It's alive!

I'm talking about a keypad for the 128K, thanks to the hard work of Paul Farrow.

There's a tutorial on his website on how to build one, but some of the parts weren't available anymore and a new approach had to be taken. The result can be seen below:

The keypad works just like the original one, and Paul has told me that at some point he will document everything.

At some point I may have to paint it in black and get a new overlay. If someone has done this before and has some suggestions please let me know.

Nice! And one in Sinclair Black would be really cool.

For added geek points, add keys for A, B, C, D, E and F for those who still like entering page upon page of hex dumps ;)

I never understood why keypads back in the day didn't have that as hex dumps were *everywhere*...

Hmm I've been thinking about this. I saw a PERFECT black generic PC keypad in 'Biglots' for $5. The first thing I thought when I saw it was 'damn, if I knew what I was doing that would be the perfect keypad to convert for the toastrack.

Well of course that one is USB...I wonder how hard it would be to 'make it work' on the speccy. I think I'll pick a couple up just in case.

EDIT: Here is a picture of the one from biglots..

It looks nice but you have to open it to see if the keyboard matrix is compatible (otherwise the software has to be re-written) and if the board fits inside. :)
