A 38 year old man tried to make an assault on the dutch royal family on "Koninginnedag". A national feast turned in a drama.

    This is a shocking thing to happen. Koninginnedag is normally such a fantastic happy day. As an expat I've always been impressed by the sea of orange on Queens day. It's literally one big party, we really have nothing like it in the UK.

    I saw Queen Beatrix speaking on the TV after the incident, she looked devastated.

    Very, very sad day.

    You didn't need to understand dutch to see what she was saying.

    The sigh first and then her words, her look, she was broken.

    The guy who did it comes from the same small village as my wife does.

    I hope they fry the bastard.

    I'm no fan of royalty anywhere, but what a time to do something as ridiculous as that, and what had the people he splatted done to deserve that?

    I'm sad and shocked too. I read the story earler, but seing the video really hits home how sad and frightening this is. :(

    Very sad to read that. Who'd have thought something like that would happen in Holland of all places. My thoughts are with the families of the victims. :(

    Yep very sad, glad that coward didnt die though so they can put him in jail for the rest of his life.

    (Damn that scum did die, would rather he rots in jail for the rest of his life)

    Another of the badly injured victims died today, bringing the total to seven dead (including the driver).
