Have you ever met another forum member?

edited May 2009 in Chit chat
seeing as many members here are located all over the place, have any of ye ever met each other either by chance or at an event etc, what was your perception when or if you did meet?

Most (read:all) of the retro events seems to be held "up t'north" and is too far for me to travel so I have yet to meet any fellow retro heads from this or any other gaming forum.

But maybe one day when one event is a little nearer home I may attend. :)

I woukd love to attend a few of them and will look into the next few events with regards times etc. Always room for a clown eh ha

Well theres a fair few coming up, one in Manchester in a few months, then theres the big one in Halifax in September which should be good.

First show i went to i was thinking it'll be full of a lot of spotty geeks with bad BO and there were a fair few but met many great people at the events over the years.

First one i went to was CGEUK down near London, then a few in the midlands and the one in September will be the first 'northern' one i've been to. The one back in March in Stoke was very good. Met a fair few people off the various forums and all have been a good bunch

I have not met anyone on this forum but I met up with a lot of people in London who posted on the 'Digital Spy' forum. Out of twelve of them only one was a weirdo :D

In what way?its hard to know exactly what vibe to expect from a person from the forum but you should trust your instincts.

    True.

Meeting up with some weirdo from the internet who refuses to divulge even the simplest bit of information about themselves and constantly asks questions digging for personal information about others is always a bad idea. Those kinds of people nearly always turn out to be sad, lonely, 40+ year old paedophiles, or compulsive liars.

    Or both :p

What makes you think that Toxi was referring to you? Did Toxi hit the nail on the head?
  • edited May 2009
I'll tell you one thing though Toxie knows his Speccy even if it isn't his primary machine of choice. I'll also be happy to wibble on about weird or obscure games on the Speccy or not, I'm well happy to do that.

I'm only signed on this forum, and a one about cheesy horror films, I lurk on the other forums so I have a basic idea of what goes on. Been tempted to join a few, but there seems to be too many invincible rambo types on em', can't be arsed with that shit, I'm in my 30's now.

Yeah i dont like the rambos either i think its childish either be yourself or not time to grow up. Toxic does know his stuff about consoles but if you played games as much as him you probably would as well.

Why do you frequent gaming forums if you have a problem with people who play games?
  • edited May 2009
    You again eh!

I love games as much as the next man but when you do nothing but play games 24/7 its a bit sad and anyway i wouldnt want that its not healthy im sure the people here play loads of games but they have a balance like kids a wife etc. Games are great fun but they arent everything.
