Whys that? I am actually nothing like Toxic describes, i do have a range of consoles old and new, a good job and plenty of mates. Be careful judging others based on internet posts, you cant really tell a lot.

As for the forum its a bit of a laugh thats why chit chat is so random and like most forums 95% people on here are fine.

Again true. I hope you will eventually fit into the 95% group.

Well why not talk about the consoles, try out a Speccy emulator and some games ? This is what the site is about, the Spectrum. We talk about the games, have a off topic chit chat as well. Most people who dont know what a Spectrum is dont join a Speccy forum to only post in chit chat !!!

Its like me joining a Boyzone forum and then in the offtopic just talking about the premier league.

Its amazing how people seem to always go on about their great job/mates etc ! Its like those girls you hear about in chatrooms called hotgirl69 who are always a model, blonde and fit when in actual fact its a big momma.

Seriously its a Speccy forum, at least try and get involved with the Speccy. If you want to talk about 'best monday ever....' then find a overall 'chat' forum to waffle on at.

Getting banned from one forum is one thing, that could just be unlucky or not realising how to act. Being banned from 5 or 6 forums tells me its not the forums, its the user.

Too right ! I think you've seen that viral picture of a huge fat naked guy at a computer pretending hes some hot girl !

We all know anyone called hotgirl69 etc in a chatroom is really a fat dodgy bloke typing with 'one hand' if you get my drift. Reminds me of that david brent episode where he meets up with a woman from a dating agency and the picture she sent him must have been 5 years old when she was 4 stone lighter etc

I think a lot of people particularly women may bluff up their appearance on forums because of the anonymity but you shouldnt go too far because its just not being honest.

I agree, pot kettle black ! Some women may bluff their appearances.

Some people wont talk about anything, not where theyre from, their first name, what computers they had etc !

Its normal forum behaviour. You seem to be a 12 year old kid and your mums got you to promise not to give any personal information out whatsoever.

Even if you say 'Steve from Worcester' no one can track you down or that you know. As many people have said you are quite happy asking about us and our jobs etc but the second anyone asks you you ignore it.

Hahaha, saw how that Krusty muppet racked up a lot of posts in a very short span of time, thinking of how he doesn't even seem like he belongs on WOS (appeared he came over to troll a bit) and probably ends up banned too, to only actually see "Banned" as his member rank just now. That's what I like about WOS, twats get dealt with in a timely manner

On-topic, the only people I met are Speccyman (the bloke behind Sintech) and LCD, probably saw a few of the Dutch ones too even though I don't think I talked to them a lot and they would not remember me. The last time I went to any Spectrum-related event where these people turned up is well over 10 years ago anyway.

I've met a few people from the forum too - psj & sirclive at last year's retro thingym'bob and jetsetwilly, plus a few others from other forums, like woody.cool (amiga guy from retrogamer / lemon amiga).

For me I try and balance my life with work, socialising & my hobby. I don't mind being referred to as a 'computer geek', as I perhaps know far too much about the Speccy and Amiga (as I've spent 15 - 20 years playing and tinkering with the machines) and I've been referred to as being a bit like Sheldon off The Big Bang Theory (mainly by my other half - who is back being my other half - hurrah!).

I don't think I'm "sad" and I don't spend 24/7 on my computer (well, may be 18/7), nor do I want to judge people as everyone is a bit different.

    Live and let live?
