Subscription Freebies

I was reading the latest issue of RG which has an excellent article on the Ocean game Frankie Goes To Hollywood. I remembered playing it and then realised I got it free, along with NOMAD, with a Crash subscription. who else got similar groovy deals?

    Was never allowed to subscribe to the Speccy mags when I was younger so I had them on regular order with my local newsagent, unfortunately he wasn't the kind of person who'd give me a free Speccy game for continued custom (the bast) :(

    On the other hand, I've had some decent freebies in recent years. I've subbed to Retro Gamer since Issue 3 back in the Live Publishing days (got a free Namco 5-in-one TV game joystick, and then a free '48K' T-Shirt and a magazine binder when I renewed my sub :) ), I got a free Viz mug, some keyrings and a copy of the 'Profanisaurus Rex' when I started subbing to Viz, and the Official Nintendo Magazine sent me a free Gamecube Wavebird controller when I started a sub with them, plus they often include extras for the subs that don't appear with the edition on the newstands, such as free Zelda gashapon figures and the like.

    I got the first issue of the CD32 magazine, it came with a free CD32, of course the mag did cost 250 quid.

    never had a sub to any speccy mags, i did have a sub with the newsie. who used to put one aside for me. i think there was a coupon in the mag to give the newsagent. you don't see them anymore do you.

    these days my newsagent keeps me a mag under the counter in a brown paper bag so no one can tell what it is. he he he.

    I never subscribed either, but I did get YS through the door every month from the newsagent. Surprisingly I still use that same newsagent now.

    I've just realised that I've only ever had one proper subscription. But I don't pay for it.

    I get the F1 mag every month. My mum pays for it for christmas. I can't remember if I actually got anything with it when I first got the subscription. But that was a few years ago now and I can hardly remember what I did last month! :-D
