Thought a while ago that Dig-Dug would be a good game for Farmer Jack, but I've never really gotten the point of the game - always found it somewhat lacking compared to Pac-Man etc. Maybe I'll give it another play soon...

The second Farmer Jack was inspired by Ladybug, so I guess we already have a Lady Bug in the ZX :)

How about the SNES classic Unirally (Uniracers)

A great game that hasn't really been ported anywhere.

    Hows about SonSon.

It's one of Capcoms very early games, and is simple enough to quite easily fit into a Speccy, and use some colour as well. Based on The Journey West, this is the original video game of Monkey Magic

Snow Bros. Ocean had the licence, but it was 1991 and they'd already started backing away from the Speccy by then. Apparently Amiga and ST versions were written but not released!

so many light cycle games, and Discs of Death, but no conversion of the original Tron arcade game with the four mini games.

Would have been great to have see a 128k version with a decent score.

Excellent game, its reminiscent of Bubble Bobble but with snowballing of enemies. I have the downlad for Amiga which was regarded as a great piece of retro-archeology by Amiga regulars.

The Megadrive/Genesis version of Snow Bros was spot on, but in this day and age why play a 16-bit conversion when you can just get MAME and play the arcade?

Great idea! Where can we download MAME for Spectrum?

@La Piramide : Are you converting all those coin ops to the Spectrum??? I think all the screenshots you are showing are taken from a Speccy...that would be great, and now that I think, they are games similar to Popeye, the one you were converting, right?

    :)

well that's why I tried to create a template, asked people to add links to the game info page.

as you can see, the original game is very much like speccy, it may even z80 based.

Nice one Arda, so these games would be really easy to convert then, right?! It would be good, since these coin ops are always fun.

    Mappy:

Quite a simple game, and it got an MSX conversion. I can't decide whether I should try a super-colour version of this game or not. But I think I should do a vertical scrolling shoot-em-up next.

    Flicky:

Another simple one that made it to the Megadrive but could work well on the Speccy.

It's coming, it's coming. Took my ASUS to Corfu with me and did a start menu that's looking very pretty.

Not released, but then finished and finally downloadable from Amiga Games That Weren't (www)

Another coin-op game to be converted for the Spectrum could be Rally-X by Namco,

This is the MSX version and has the same screen resolution. A portable version can be done.

    Turok

The Gameboy version would probably be easiest...(note that by easiest I mean "quite difficult" :))

Not much online in the way of game descriptions, but you can view the whole game on youtube..

Robotz DX is a remake of an Atari ST PD game and it is really playable, very simple gameplay and as its tile-based with not many sprites would suit the speccy down to the ground:

If you haven't played it yet, I strongly advise having a go. Very addictive old-school gameplay.

I would love to see a version of Extreme Violence. It was originally a game written in Amos for the Commodore Amiga and released as public domain.

    get-ready.jpg

The objective was simple. It were two player, and you had to hunt down your mate. You had a standard gun, and along the way you could pick up an array of weapons and power ups including bouncing bullets, and bullets that would shoot through walls. The only thing is, two player games have limited appeal (you need a friend to play them with), so I wonder if a Spectrum port were released, if it would be possible to have a computer controlled player?

As can be seen in the above pic, the graphics were absolute crap, but it was the game play that made it so addictive, I use to get me mates around for a game over some beers :-D

More info on the game here:

I've always thought that the mini game in Donkey Kong Country called 'Funky's Fishing'
would be a great game for the Spectrum. It's so addictive - I didn't bother playing DKC I just skipped straight to the fishing!!! :)

Designed by Mr Tim Stamper I do believe...

AGD can at least do something like it...

    http://dl.dropbox.com/u/2668371/VVVVClone_work01.sna

Moving platforms and disintegrating ones wouldn't really happen though. Neither would the text and intro / animations. Your own game with it's own features would work though I guess.

If anybody wants to turn that very unfinished AGD engine into something nice, improve it, etc, be my guest. I may do something with it myself, but it'll be a while yet.
