New V Mini series

edited May 2011 in Chit chat
Just saw the trailer for the new V Mini series... After all the promise of a follow on set 20 years after the original they've gone and done a Battlestar Galactica with it. Complete re-imagening.

Not going to say it looks awful, hard to say from the trailer... but I will say the Alien tech, and uniforms in the orginal looked a lot better!

Still, I am looking forward to seeing it.

Oh, that is so going to end up cancelled before the end of the first series.

And the original had better music. And a Speccy game.

Could be alright, god that woman from Lost whos got the leading role must be busy !

Think the trailer looked superb, just hope it carries on after the initial 'heres the aliens, oops theyre lizards....' as the original series was great up to that point and then quickly went downhill.

Part of me wants to see it, part of me hates it already!

I got the originals on a few DVDs a few months after I moved to the states, from the library and watched them all in about 2 or 3 nights, matchsticks propping the eyes open type affair.

Still couldn't get hold of the V2 or whatever, when Lydia was all grown up and her and Diana were fighting over Charles and whatnot, and they had the banquet with the goldfish swimming in the wine. I assume that was the later crap that ruined everything as the early stuff just had Donovan and Martin and Willy the friendly visitors, and the like in?

So anyway it looks like they're restarting the whole thing and this is not a tie in, or continuation, but a complete remake, like I said, part of me wants to see it, part of me is disappointed.

....since I work nights as well I won't even be able to watch the bastard when it's on

Guess t'internet will be my friend when it comes to this one, because even if it is a letdown, I'll never know if I don't watch it, and V is one of my favourite sci-fi things ever!

My curiousity will eat me from the inside out if I don't see this!

Not really a good selling point considering you could've called the game "Guy on a ship with no lizards anywhere" and sold it as a budget game :D

One of the biggest licence dissapointments ever.... CRL even did better from just licencing a Music Score!

Looks a bit cheesy. Wonder if it fares better than Invasion or whatever that alien invaders coming to earth show was that got cancelled after the first season was a few years back.

The original V was alright. Doesn't need a remake.

Thats the thing, back in the 80's there was about one huge american tv series like V on ITV which everyone got into. Now theres so many to choose from !

Plus i want to get into V for example but then if it gets cancelled one season in its a waste, want something which i know will last so i can really enjoy it season after season.

Which is what really pisses me off about shite american TV series', imagine what the money wasted on producing them could have been spent on instead?

That's why I rarely watch shit like that, it just annoys me.

I want to have sex with the alien chick already, I don't care if she is a lizard as long as she keeps the human suit on.

Even more annoying is when they get 4 seasons in and then cancel it - The 4400 I'm looking at you!

I wouldn't mind if the suit fell off!

I'd have my eyes closed and I could still picture her face for the ooooooooooooooooooo...8 seconds it'd take me to finish my business!!

The biggest annoying casualty of cancellation was of course Firefly. At least we got Serenity to tie pretty much everything up.

And Morena Baccarin (Inara from Firefly) is the new Diana - she's uber-yummy!

Bad sign casting people from a failed sci-fi series into another sci-fi series which appears to already be geared up to fail.........history repeating itself....lessons never learned?

    Who knows?

Firefly, Dark Angel, Firefly, Dark Skies, Firefly, That thing about the guy who knew everything except who he was, Firefly, Push Nevada, Firefly, Eerie Indiana, Firefly, etc...

All things I found interesting and entertaining all cancelled.

    Did I say Firefly?

Things that on the face of it were really shit but went on forever...

Star Trek - Next Gen/Deep Space Nine/Voyager - The same 3 episodes repeated for over 20 series. Oooh look another ball of light is going to hit the ship, hang on I've got a funny feeling, I'll just reconfigure the manifold to ...

Battlestar Galactica. Started off well, but I lost it with the series that had no special effects just politics and cancer, endless boring chatter.

Andromeda - How long did that go on for? Jeesus it was crap.

Stargate SG1 (There's a spin off too)... Rapid decent into mediocrity.

Did I say Firefly? Stupid networks don't know a good thing when it kicks them in the teeth.

I aim to misbehave. Cowboys in space. How could it possibly be bad?

    Meh :(

At the moment the only thing I'm watching on TV is Ashes to Ashes. I pay my licence fee for 8 episodes a year and Terry Wogan in the morning. Lordy, lordy. I'm going back to bed.

i know i'll take flak for this, but i saw that serenity film, and it was a load of garbage, later i watched a couple of episodes of that firefly, and that was just as bad.

am i on my own with this? i do think joss whedon makes absolute crap which only seems to appeal to web jockeys.

sorry but these shows can't hold a candle to things like the wire or the sopranos.

i'm not suprised v is having the ole' reboot, but i can imagine it being shit, still though the actors will be able to charge people for the privillage of thier autographs at one of those dorky conventions.

I'm with you ! Heard so much about these, watched Serenity and found it veryyyy boring indeed. Saw the odd episode of Firefly and wasnt impressed (sorry). But seriously the Serenity film was dull as anything, very disappointed after all the hype from people here

The last US series I got into was Babylon 5 and I got really upset when it was cancelled.

(unless you count comedy series then I have to include Big Bang Theory)

Um... Babylon 5 was never cancelled. It had it's 5 year run, as it was always going to be anyway.

You both watched it the wrong way round. You should've stuck with Firefly through the 14 episodes then watched Serenity.

I'm utterly sick of these overplayed American dysfunctional character dramas. Swearing, brutal violence, bad lighting, psychoses, neuroses, pointless close-ups. If it's not that it's ridiculously contrived murder investigations that takes Quincy's meddling outside of his actual job to preposterous extremes.

yeah me too, who actually solves crimes in the US, is it the lawyers, the CSI lads, a mortitian, the doctros at a hospital, a priest, a PI.

nt sure why they have such a high crime rate cos everyone seems to be able to solve crimes over there.

you should check out 'the wire.' its about as close to the real thing as you will ever come.

There's another one that started off well and ended up with episode after episode of nonsense between whoever the captain was and that delen character.

It ended up with 2 people you had any feelings for the ambassador and his fat sidekick from animal house.

That was screwed up by Channel 4 bouncing it around the schedules every week so you couldn't follow it. Virgin 1 should get hold of it and show it properly or something. Even so, it didn't half go on with its politics. I particularly liked DS9 though, with the longer story arcs.
