I think it was silly to remove the function. Look, personally I don't really care if it's there or not, it's the reason it was removed that bugs me.

I'm positive that if there was a poll to decide wether to keep the function or not, it would probably end up being wanted. Just my guess.
So we're being told "it's good for us - it's better this way". Going slightly off topic, have any of you noticed that when Dutch people post DVD's on usenet they almost always strip English subtitles and only keep../or replace them with Dutch subtitles?...and they rarely post NFO files for their posts. The Germans at least tell us if the DVD's posted are dubbed. Apparently Dutch people has an idea of how the world should work and that opinion is being forced down our throats and we don't have a say in the matter. Damn annoying. Thank God I have a couple of really good Dutch friends or who knows how much more negative I'd been. :p
Phew, my rant is over. Nothing to see here. Please pass the road. :D
Anyway, as for the 'Who's Online' function I don't care either way...I'm much more annoyed by the DVD situation but that's for another forum. ;)

I hear Martijn has the largest DVD collection on that side of the Mississippi ... I wonder if he goes out of his way to get sub-less DVDs??? (or perhaps Dutch-only??????)
It was removed for good reason. As it's currently designed, the Who's Online shows the action a person is currently performing. Some actions that a person can perform are not necessarily something that is desirable to be public knowledge.
Because there doesn't appear to be any way (short of hacking the BB software) of controlling whether individual activities are shown, the whole system was disabled. If a future version of the BB software materialises that allows finer control of what activities are shown, I'm sure it will be re-enabled.
One nifty thing I discovered (perhaps after this new forum update) is that if you hover over the envelope next to a thread, it will tell you how many posts you have made in that thread.

(Don't think one could do that before)
Never noticed that either. It also appears if the icon has an arrow superimposed over it then you have a post in that thread. Neat!
As for the feature being removed - I didn't know about it anyway so it's removal is a matter of supreme indifference to me.

I think there was a thread about it before, too.

Although there's a question there that remains unanswered. ;)
