What's the best DVR around?

edited July 2009 in Chit chat
I just saw this thing for about 20 bucks, not a bad deal in my opinion.

"SanDisk V-Mate Digital Video Recorder - Record TV Shows (or any Video Source) Directly to SD, MMC and MS Flash Media"

Has anyone here any experience with these things, are there other better ones around, where one can move the actual video file to ones computer/mobile player of choice? Or just watch it on Ye Olde CRTube.

This is in my opinion the device which finally killed the VCR.

Yup! Me and the missus don't have one, but she wants one (which basically means sometime in the future she'll get one :D).

I haven't watched a video since before I left England, but the VCR here is very useful, and is used as a hub so we can have the DVD, Playstation, and Digi-box all hooked up, the extra cable ports in the back of the vid mean we don't have to switch anything around when we want to use it.

I wouldn't be without ours (my wife and me I mean) now. We're in the UK so have sky plus. It makes life so much easier. I can honestly say I watch less television than I did before, but when I do sit down to watch, it's always something I want to see. Also the live pause rewind is really good too. I'm not sure what the quality of the box is like, but I've never had any problems with it. In fact I'm thinking of upgrading to the HD version. The only real drawback is that there's no integrated DVD recorder.
