AY player/emulator to iPhone?

edited March 2011 in Emulators
Hi!

I found this en SID player to iPhone http://iphone.vanille.de/sidplayer/
iTunes link http://itunes.apple.com/WebObjects/MZSt ... 05592&mt=8

It would be really nice to have an iPhone AY player with link to Sergey Bulba AY music library http://bulba.untergrund.net/music_e.htm

Cheers

Christian

I knocked this up in the evening. Fortunately the source code for ay2wav builds on the iPhone with only one minor problem, which made it pretty simple. You only need to change one typedef that clashes with the iPhone SDK. I hacked ay2wav up a little so that it does the conversion in RAM rather than writing out to disk, and also stuck on a file browser front end. It needs a fair bit of polish though. It's slow at converting - I cut a section out of that video. It would need to do the conversion in a second thread to keep things responsive. It would also need a proper audio control screen with a progress bar and play/pause/etc controls.

You would also have the same problems as with any emulator. I suspect you'd get away with the emulation in this case. The SID player suggests that you'd get away with the copyright issues too with a bit of luck!

I've not done anything since posting the video above, and I don't intend too either.

Sad, but thanks anyway for your try. Will you release your code so other people will have a go on this.
