Any rodent-experts ?

I have never heard of mice with stripes on their back.
And the pic doesn't show any tail either (might be a cropped pic, tho).
Am I wrong, or is this a hamster ?

~Maybe it's a tame "fancy mouse" hired out for a photo shoot, and the mouse was in no danger of the trap going off, cos mice with the right markings are quite expensive.

    It's a hamster.

FYI...peanut butter works better than cheese in mousetraps.

Does it have a tail? If it just has the tiniest stub of a tail, it's most likely a hamster.

    Agreed on the hamster/mouse issue!

But I used to find chocolate spread to be the best for mouse catching - I always used a humane mousetrap tho' so I was particularly good to my resident mice.

Those wire-spring things tend to catapult bits of mouse everywhere when they go off! I used to go on "mouse walks" where I would release them over the moors at weekends.

Be free mice - but somewhere else!
