I phoned up British Gas once to nag as they were sending someone over to fix something and they didnt turn up. Waited in all day, poor dog was crossing his legs all day as i couldnt go out.
In this day and age of mobile phones i'm stunned companies cant tell you roughly what time it might be instead of 'sometime between 9am and 5pm' and you know that means 4.55pm.
Even worse though if its not even your own house !
it's funny their head office is up your way psj... I used to date a woman who worked at the head office in quay street or something in central manc... joke is , "british" gas has been owned by the french for hhm donkey years now.
but as yet, no show.. and i just looked online and they have a p-poor record with customers..
Tell then that if they dont come and lay your cables today, that you'll be laying a cable and they will be expeting to receive it soon in a presentation box.

If you can phone up to cancel and i bet within minutes you'll get a call from the engineer to say hes on their way.
But to be fair the person you're helping out, they might have had an initial chat with the company and they told them between 9am-5pm.
more than likely the engineer has been given a list of job to complete and hasn't got around to you. i don't believe these people wait until 4:45 and decide to go to one customer.
sometimes these people are early and you never hear about it as your more likely to complain about something. or maybe mention if something smashing happens like curries accidently deliver you two LCD tv's when you only wanted one.
get this, the <removed> engineer hasn't even put in for the job to re-pull(?) the cable...
I had words with whose house it was and said WHY tell me Tuesday.. the way they said it , sounded like it would commence Tuesday.. next time I'll get them to install the thing when THEY are here.
not the point in a way, they could have bothered to ring me back and tell me the score instead of messing me about today..hhmm 6 time I rang the useless <removed> .. I really hope the service gets better than I've seen so far.
