group buys?

I'm just curious if it has been tried here before. I mean I'm tempted to get the diagnositc board made up that Winston designed for example, maybe others would like to get the same board also.

So getting the PCB made up for it, I'm guessing the more, perhaps more of a discount, obv. the shipping it'd need to be posted to individial address's.

I notice the forum a few companies who sell parts etc get mentions , but wonder if they have ever did anything in co-op with the forum?

I do group buys on music software, so I'm slightly borrowing the idea.. it does work regarding that though, obviously you have to commit to buying it so there is no "oh i'll pay you when I can" rubbish that less honourable folk would do.

Aye, ZXBruno organized one for the Mouse interface and I think Rwap pretty much 'tested the water' for the Divide+ on here.

Been a couple of others too that currently slip my aged mind.

Actually, for the diags board, it's built to make it easy to home etch the board (i.e. all the vias are in places where you can get to them, none of the chips need soldering top side etc) - which makes it quite a bit larger than it need be.

If enough people want one, I'll look at doing an "issue 2" PCB which is smaller. I'd stick with through hole components to make it easy for people with no SMD soldering experience, but a board shrink would make a PCB much less expensive to be made. If people feel up to soldering SOIC components, it could be made quite a bit smaller still. (It could also do with a revision to make it +3 compatible). Or perhaps use a CPLD which would give the board quite a few other potential uses.

my friend would be up for soldering my diag. board.the +3 thing would be good as I own one of them.

if something could give the board more use than just for diagnostic then that'd be cool, you mean add some input also?..

I did send a PCB company your gerber file and they haven't got back to me yet.
