IEC Type II

Is it ok to use "IEC Type II cassette" in old player similar to this one:

    I think its ok.. sorry I have years to use tapes,
    but 3-4 years ago I transfered some .tap programs to real tape (from the pc) IIRC the tapes were modern (not the old type I) I could play them back on the speccy using a plain (mono) sony cassette player .. (maybe the player had 'auto' detection of the tape type..)

    Playing them is ok. Recording them may result in a lot of dropouts. Reason is that IEC Type II needs more bias current. Lack of bias current results in too much signal in high frequencies and dropouts.
