Everiss - A "highly respected person" ?
It gets better.....
http://www.bruceongames.com/2009/12/13/high-drama-in-evony-llc-vs-bruce-everiss/
Roughly - Ebony's lawyer (Dean Groundwater) has quit / been sacked.
Quote from the above article (read the whole lot for full context / full amusement)
"Personally I like to think that it was Dean who decided to jump ship. Possibly because he came to the obvious conclusion that I was telling the truth and that there was no actionable case to be brought against me. However, even if he has taken the correct path, I may still sue him for libel, in London. Accusing a highly respected person such as myself of fraud in the Evony press release was a significant defamation. I am sure I can find a no win no fee solicitor in London to pursue the matter."
Now that would be worth a laugh :)

You can imagine the spin he put out during those early Imagine years if 25 years later hes still talking bull now
The fact that Bruce acts like a 12 year old kid, deleting posts which he cannot debate against and contradicting himself says to me he hasn't done any of the above.
Don't care for the man, don't wish him any ill but I do pity him. People laugh at him and he is too arrogant to see it.
is not someone I would have a drink with at the pub...
that says it all...
but it's funnier there is an advert for kingory on his page?!?! hehe
who cares , he's another suit.. most people are interested in the talent that made the games mainly..
he's all about PR.. so what.. so are another 4983275983475983 others..
Yup! It was all those wicked pirates
Thats one thing which makes me feel uneasy. I mean theres his dodgy sex forum (Would cringe if my dad ran something like that), then theres his juvenile war with Stuart Campbell, i mean the 'fake blog' he set up pretending ot be Stuart was embarassing, i've seen some of his replies (Dont get me wrong i know Stu is very 'blunt' shall i put it and to the point) but his replies are something a 14 year old would put.
Just cringeworthy and embarassing to read. The way he edited all those responses to his ridiculous post about home taping in the 80's was bad. Thought there was 'freedom of speech' and all that, nope he just edits it all to make it look like hes right. People werent even swearing or that, just giving him cold hard facts but he was happy to edit his posts and even worse replies from people.
Maybe he should have gone to Australia. With brass neck like that the Aussies would have made him their patron F*ck*ng saint!

If he hadnt posted controversial crap then it would have been the usual 'this is what i did today' yawn type of blog.
thats the paris hilton puzzle, is she actually very thick or is she very clever for getting everyone to talk about her.
would be a larf if he suddenly brought out his own MMORPG.
They've been crawled and indexed by at least one russian site in the past
Again, with the exception of a couple of comments, I don't see anything that isn't a discussion of his behaviour. The offending comments will be deleted after I post this. Even though Mr. Everiss is not a forum member, please keep the discussion respectful - no ad hominem attacks. However, as he is a public figure, he is fair game for criticism of his behaviour - just don't take it too far.

I must object to a thread posted in July 2007 calling Hitler nasty names. Even though i dislike him its a personal attack on his character and hes not around to defend himself. ;)
Plus theres been attacks on Jade Goody, other reality TV stars, some very aggressive.
So where do we draw the line ? A 'celeb' we dont know and only know about her from the media we can attack. Some guy who constantly spams people we're not allowed to moan about, some old guy who talks trash about home taping we're not allowed to discuss either as its a personal attack ?
In the past we've had some racist comments posted by someone (thinking its okay to use the word 'paki'), we've had a bizarre thread about a 35 year old guy talking about asking out a 15/16 year old girl, we've had a crazy argument with a very very religious guy, we've had many homophobic comments and not a word from aowen. But the second you comment on spamming or an old guy who posted a controversial piece on his blog, outrage ! Its a personal attack etc ! Ridiculous.
Now we cant talk about a nutty spammer and he wants a thread about Bruce Everiss to close as one person is unhappy? (But racism/homophobic comments etc are ok ?). Granted the comments about Jowell were OTT but the people who had been spammed were obviously fed up with it, posts to Roger werent helping, the guy even came on the forum and didnt address any of the issues. If Nick had got an email back from Roger apologising and that was the end of it fair enough, he felt he had to take it to the next level and post about him (hoping he would then stop) but alas no.
No, but I think everyone needs to have a lot more consideration for each other if we're going to avoid a repeat of recent incidents. I merely pointed out the two most blatant abuses. In future I'll be raising any concerns directly with the mods.
There is a reason for that! :-o
If that's aimed at me, as I think, then please re-read the thread, I was not racist. Misusing a word, even if that word is inherently racist, without racist intent, is not racist. Racism is intent, not necessarily action (for example, if a child asks "Why did that man call Kevin a n*gger?", then the child is not being racist), and I said that I couldn't understand why the word "Paki", which is just a contraction of the word "Pakistani" is considered racist, when "Brit", "Scot", "Mank" ("Mancunian", meaning from Manchester) are not. I did not say anything derogatory about Pakistanis, or anyone else, and I accepted the consensus of the posters of the thread that the term is generally considered very offensive to most Pakistanis, even though I have heard the term used by some Pakistanis themselves.
I posted after seeing on the news that Prince Harry had been told off for calling an army team mate a "Paki", and I did not do so to be offensive, as I think is clear from my first post:
"Prince Harry is in trouble (yeah, right) for using the word "Paki" to describe a Pakistana colleague, according to:
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/7822883.stm
Now first of all, the word "Paki" is not offensive to anyone with a brain, as it's just a contraction of the word "Pakistani". You can call a Briton a "Brit", you can call a Scotsman a "Scot", you can call an Australian an "Aussie", so why not a "Paki"?
Answer: Pakistanis are black, and in England black people have special rights. It's pathetic. Anne Robinson says on TV that she hates the Welsh, and she gets away with it. Yet if she'd said that she hates the Jamaicans, or the Pakistanis or whatever, then she'd never be allowed on TV again.
If Prince Harry had written a book saying that all Liverpudlians were retarded, thieving, inbred, etc, then nothing would be said, as Liverpudlians (who are mostly English and white) are unprotected by our "equality" laws. But no, Harry speaks the word "Paki", and suddenly the whole army is institutionally racist. Pathetic.
And anyway, what does it matter what Harry does? He's just a poilt parasite, of no real importance. When he dressed as a Nazi that time (and that WAS wrong) nothing was done about it. The Royal family can get away with anything, look at Philip, he's an obnoxious racist bigot, but he's royalty so nothing is done about him.
Still, what else can you expect from a country that preaches equality for all, but allows black only music awards, black only newspapers, etc. Every black person I know is against the "reverse discrimination" attitude, and I've yet to find any black person who considers the phrase "black coffee" to be offensive. The only real way to fight racism is to meet people of other colours, creeds and faiths, then you realise that everyone is basically the same. Treating one faction better than another in the name of equality isn't just hypocrasy, it's potentially very damaging.
No doubt all the usual people who have nothing worthwhile to say will jump in; Royal fans will support him (as they would if he'd said anything at all, however offensive, idiots), politicians will consider what it's best to say (Hmmm, offending Pakis vs. damaging their own chances of a knighthood or peerage), the usual keep-white-people-down equality groups will be calling for Harry's blood, and so on. "

If you meant someone else (though a quick search didn't show this), PSJ then please ignore this post.
AOwen, I have to agree that it's a bit extreme to call foe this thread to be locked, just because Mr Everiss isn't here to defend himself (and even if he was, he couldn't, as everything we've posted about him is true), as by that same reasoning we couldnt criticise say Gordon Brown for his inept political work, Damian Hurst or Tracy Eminen, for their "art" works, or anyone else, however just or unjust our points may be.
Mr Everiss is not just an annoying hypocrate, but he's also symptomatic of what is wrong with the computer industry today. He might not have any official position within the industry any more, but he shares the indifference to public opinion and public desire, and the "I know better than the customers what the customers want" attitude that's so deeply rooted in the computer gaming industry. His blog is so full of lies that it's almost beyond satire, yet people who don't know better might still take it at face value and be misled by it.
I posted a comment, and he deleted it since it was against him (I pointed out that he was far from respected, that he was unmentioned in any industry magazine/industry web site/industry blog etc that I'd ever seen, I linked to the thread where he rewrote Imagine's history, and I finished with
"The irony is that this once you are in the right, but your reputation for talking rubbish might well sway people to take Evony?s side, as they could well assume that your anti-Evony stance is fuelled simply by your usual bias and inability to recognise or at least honestly record the facts.
You would have done Evony far more harm if you?d have publically sided with them, ironically."
Anyway, he didn't bother answering it, just deleted it (despite him criticising other people, in a separate article on his blog, for censoring their comments), so I posted it again. He deleted it, so I posted it again. I logged on today to find that, amazingly, he'd deleted it, so I posted it again.
Not exactly mature of me, maybe. But I'm sick of people like him who preach free speech and claim understanding, but instead dictate their words as law, and refuse to listen to anyone who opposes them.
i'm sure PSJ wasn't attacking you. he prolly didn't even remember what happened that long ago. in fact no of us will have remembered.
good though that you brought it back up, it will go somewhat to the healing of wos at this time.
Therefore my description was valid :)
95% of blokes masturbate.
The other 5% are liars.
what do blind people look at?
At least Bruce has a tangential connection to the Speccy. What have Brown, Hirst or Emin got to do with the Speccy? This is World of Spectrum, not World of Slagging-people-off (even if the criticism may be deserved).
well he does have a connection to the speccy, even more reason to be discussing him, no?
i'd think a post about gordon brown is less appropriate than one about bruce. what with this being a speccy site.
are we allowed to slag off speccy games? cos most of my speccy posts slag off 'big trouble in little china'
They have nothing to do with the Spectrum, as far as I know, though conceivably Hurst or Emin might use a Spectrum, or a shelf of old Spectrum games tapes or whatever, to make up another work of "art". They could maybe get a dustbin, fill it with old 8-bit computers and games cassettes, and call it "Goodbye retro", and some idiot who can't judge what he likes and instead buys anything by known (i.e. big name) "artists" just so he can say he has, will pay ten million for it. Or get an empty XBox 360 carboard box, rip it up, prop it next to the dustbin, and call the whole piece "We've gone current gen.". And whoosh - the value goes up to twenty million. Get Tracy Eminem to write the names of every game she can think of offhand on the bin, and you can add another five million to the price.
But even if these people, or any other, have no discernable Spectrum connection, this is the off topic forum, for use for any topic that doesn't violate the TOS, even if it's as far from the Spectrum as Hurst or Eminem are from real art. Or as far as Gordon Brown is from reality - hmmm, maybe the reason he's such a rubbish prime minister is because he's too distracted by trying to beat The Hobbit. he's probably been stuck in the goblin's dungeon for the past twelve years, though he no doubt thinks it's all the Conservative governments fault that he's trapped there.
It's a spectrum forum, I would say off topic chat means things about other retro machines, new games etc that have some connection to the spectrum, etc.
Not mongy lards, political arguments, or religious rants
lol, all this recent badness started in the emulator forum.
I'm behind your opinion of that game 100% it was unadulterated poop, and one of the biggest disappointments in gaming history :D
i paid money for that, i had to play it to get my moneys worth. i'd have rather thrown the money in a tramps hat.
