Breadbin in many languages

edited December 2009 in Chit chat
I learned tonight that the Commode 64 is called "a bread bin" in at least two other languages - Spanish and Polish. I wonder if this is universal in all the places where the machine appeared?

I'm sure there is far more earlier mentions of it being called that though, TMR etc would have a far better idea perhaps.

I only heard the c64 called "Commode" when I visited here.. ah well a friend exclaimed why you wanna buy a puter with a keyboard that feels like a .......... (when I'd told him I bought a 48k original speccy)

Yes. In Germany it has been called "Brotkasten" (=bread box) ever since the mid 80s. In fact it was so common that the german Wikipedia article (in my link) is so far the only one to mention the C64.
