Virus question
Hi all
Do you know which game on the PC is most prone to viruses?.The reason that i ask is the Sudden Strike 2 has been tagged by AVG free edition as having being infected with a serious threat twice in the past days!.Are some games more prone to being targeted by mindless twits with nothing better to do?.Thanks for looking.

The ones you get from illegal file sharing sites. If it's a legitimate copy of the game then it's probably a false positive.
Thanks for the reply Aowen, but the game in question is a legitimate copy,on CD.And what is a false positive?.

if its legitimate but youve also downloaded any patches or add ons also be careful, if not it prolly is a false positive
Although not relevent as yours is on CD, games downloaded from Steam can be tagged as false positive. They have a FAQ page on it.
Among other detection techniques, anti-virus software looks for variations of known signatures within files. In some cases this can lead to legitimate software being reported as containing a virus, since this is guesswork on the part of the anti-virus software. There's at least one Speccy emulator that suffers from this and at one point there was a post every month asking if it contained a virus.
If you're still using Windows XP then you're at much more risk from malware than under Vista or Windows 7 and you should probably consider getting commercial anti-virus protection, or upgrading.
