I don't get it. :(
I presume it's cause he's decrementing the HL register... which presumably is somehow related to the cat's remaining lives... I didn't really get it either, but then I think everyone else missed the point entirely and just started posting pictures of cats
I just posted a pic of a cat cos' everyone else did?
ho hum.
Prolly cuz lol cats just aren't funny, but simple cutie cat pics are.
I just changed it to DEC (HL) simply as that seemed to be the most appropriate one for here (as the few games I've disassembled use that register for lives) and with cats having 9 etc etc...
:)
:D :D :D HAhaHahaHaHa :D :D :D
Now that's more like it!!!!
:D :D :D
:)
What's so funny ? :)
a bit more about artificial life:

You could be right, I'm not much of a coder :) , I simply picked the one I knew I'd seen a few times. :)
..good! 8bit integers is preferable.
What a beautiful nonsense! :)
:D
Well it is the time of year for a little bit of nonsense I suppose. I just found it fun to change it to DEC (HL) at the time. :)
Your version of the joke!
decreases the contents of the memorylocation pointed by by HL.
So HL point to the memorylocation of number of lives and decreases this.
DEC A
only decreases the A register but doesn't store the value when you use A for something different.
DEC A
OR
JP Z,EXITUS
OR A is not needed. DEC A will already set the Zero-flag.
Bbbzzzzzzttttt!
GAME - OVER
Better:
DEC A
JP Z, GAME_OVER
or maybe better
DEC A
JP Z, REST_IN_PEACE
For MR.Beep: and after this there not in picture will be ld (lives),a :)
