After the success of the last retro show in Huddersfield last September, another retro gamer has decided to do the next show in Sheffield.

April 10th and 11th

About 150 tickets are available, should be a good crowd, a lot of decent machines to try and no doubt some bad singing on Rock Band !

Should be a few WOSsers there

We may attend. I've got other stuff going on in April. Everything seems to happening that month! Will have to discuss with the other Cheeses.

Is it organized by the same people? (i.e. if I want to cart my Portable Spectranet Demo Kit over there, who should I talk to about getting space for it all...)

Is there a website yet? Hotels in the area?

Not the same people as before, very similar though. Before Gordon (a mod on the RG forums did the Sheffield show), one of the people who went to that (and has been to past ones) SScott (On the RG forums) decided to do one in Sheffield.

I think hes been getting tips from Gordon (Huddersfield), Witchfinder (Stoke) and perhaps Boyo (Kenilworth ones) so everyone really knows each other.

Hes only just registered a website ( http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/scotland/8454242.stm ) which as you can see is very basic but hes going to be updating this soon.

For now I would post in that RG thread if you are interested but i'll contact him now with some basic questions

Should be able to get to this one...

I'm sure I can talk the GF into going again. As long as Miles does'nt keeping getting me confused with Merman
I'm a 21st Century digital boy, I don't know how to live but I've got a lot of toys.

Hopefully Miles will be going but hopefully wont finish off a full bottle of vodka in an afternoon !!

I'm looking forward to it, should be a good crowd and hopefully no more Beatles songs to listen to !

Yeah, doesn't seem to be much relevant information there right now. And I can't work out what that stuff about driving a car into a canal has to do with retrogaming at all... ;-)

(Could potentially be up for this...)

I would go but I haven't got a car, and the canals won't be frozen by then.

I really wish people would organise the retrogaming/car on ice events at a decent time of year.

Ha ha just realised what i've done, ahem !

I'll have to look for the link later, its in a 25 page thread ! I did have it but obviously when i CTRL C'ed it didnt work and somehow kept the last site i had looked at (lucky it wasnt the one before that ;)

    Alright found the site...

    http://members.multimania.co.uk/retrorewind/

As you can see its veryyyy basic but you can PM him on that RG thread if you are interested in a ticket.

Sscott has been on Retro Gamer for quite some time and I've met him at a few retro events now so dont worry about paypalling some 'stranger' money for a show.

Its a great location in the centre of Sheffield in these weird 'steel whistle' things !

I've looked at the site and now I have a detached retina

how much are the tickets? I can't see a price anywhere.
  • edited January 2010
Tickets are 12 quid, according to the official forum - and given that the venue is at the bottom of our road (if you turn right and squint a bit - s'about a mile), I'll definitely be there - after all, it's cheap beer and retro gaming with only a short stagger home afterwards...

That's very kind offer thankyou. I like a fried breakfast, whilst the other half prefers cornflakes.

White tea, no sugar. What time shall we be there?

Nope! I had "Mr Cheese" written on my ticket. She knows she is Mrs Cheese.

As a bloke the last thing i want as a nickname is the word 'cheese'. Bit like a woman and her nickname being something to do with fish ! Not good !!

Well, if you arrive at 9am, then the toast should be about ready :)

In truth, I wouldn't object to putting one or two people up [*]! However, I suspect the spare double-bed is likely to be already spoken for...

[*] though SWMBO isn't quite as keen on letting random t'interweb people crash overnight, for some strange reason!

Don't forget to sing the "We Love WoS" song before, during and after the meal and don't forget to set a place for Martijn at the table :p

After witnessing peoples singing (including my own !) at the last retro show on one of these Rock Band type games i dont think anyone should sing !

Yes, we exist on a pseudo-random algorithmic basis. We're not truly random, though we may give that appearance to the uninitiated.
