Good Basketball games

edited February 2010 in Games
I'm looking for 'decent' basketball games. I remember (apart from the horrible One on One):

- World Series Basketball: Not good graphics but better playability
- GBA Basketball Two on Two: Better than WSB, funny.
- Fernando Martin Basket Master: Good graphics, the best, IMHO.

Any other good games to recommend?

    Street Sports Basketball
    Magic Johnson's Basketball

I think Basket Master was probably the best of the lot though, great game.

Not a huge choice, still think World Series Basketball was the best but it wasnt great. I really enjoyed World Series Baseball but Basketball was quite fiddley because of the graphics.

Didnt they use the same graphics for Super Soccer ? Poor MatchDay game that one was

commodore (international) basketball on c64 is nice..by Andrew Spencer..

remember he was supposed to do a speccy basketball game for elite ? wonder what the story behind that was.

    I guess commodore wasn't happy...

but to me it's the best 8 bitter basketball I've played. IMHO..

international soccer was great also, well until Emlyn Hughes came along and aced it :)

    Don't forget this "classic"

As a lad I altered the code a bit.
I changed the key-reading so it was possible to play with two players at the same time. Added 2 and 3 point shots, added a proper scoreboard with teamnames, time and quarters, let you change your team colours etc.. It was playable, so not Cassette 50-worthy

Basket Master was the best, great game!

May I point you in the direction of my Games Bible review? It does look great, yeah, but try playing it.

I have played it many times and its great fun, the best basketball game for the Spectrum.

I wish there was a 5 on 5 game though!

Not being an expert, a 2 on 2 game would be great and not a waste of memory...

I agree it's a great fun although 'GBA Basketball Two on Two' is another great basketball game, in spite of the graphics...

Sorry, I didn't read your review, but I presume you're talking of a difficult game, aren't you?
Superb graphics but also great gameplay, not more difficult than Match Day 2, for example, just a question of game experience, IMHO...

"Fernando Martin Basket Master" from Dinamic is the best game of this type in my opinion. In school, we organized this event and played with each other in turn. In addition, this game is very fond of even those guys who played in a real basketball.

Dunno, but I do remember that, based on the fact that Elite had actually run ads for the Speccy version of International Basketball, I foolishly told the mental hard nut in my class at school who I occasionally swapped games with that I had a copy. I have no idea why I told him this, but obviously he immediately wanted to borrow it...

I knew that if I changed my mind and told him I'd made it up, he'd kick my head in :o So after stalling for a few weeks, telling him somebody else had borrowed it, I hatched a plan...

I drew up a pretty convincing loading screen based on the advert artwork, then messed up the colours here and there and threw in a few flashing attribute blocks, just like it would look if it hadn't loaded properly. I stuck it on a tape, followed by the 'main program', which funnily enough, didn't load properly either, and lent it to him, telling him it was the only copy I had so not to lose it :)

He was pretty sure he'd been had, I think, just not quite sure enough to kick my head in. Result :-D
