Got a speccy 48 ver 4S with an interesting problem i havent been able to get to the bottom of.

It starts ok, and i get the Sinclair research message, but when i type a command and press enter, it resets.

To me, it sounded like an address line somewere shorted, but i've checked on both the RAM and the ROM, and there doesnt seem to be a short.

Likewise, i have changed the ROM and all the 4116's and disabled the upper 32K, all to no avail.

Anyone got any ideas?

    To be replaced by: ... an address, data or control line somewhere shorted, open or just weak for unknown reasons.
    Well, you must have been expecting this: Z80 should be the next one to be tested by exchanging.

    I had this, I changed the TR4 and it cured it. On the R3B board the middle connection for the TR4, the connection came away from the board as it's very frail. I looped a wire onto it and it worked fine.
