There's no shame in getting sound-alikes in though!
And along those lines, and yet not quite...
I'm pretty much ok with the VO sound-alike they found for Ben Kenobi* in the SW: The Clone Wars cartoons. He captures the character and *sound* of B.K. (as portrayed by Ewan McGregor portraying Alec Guiness's's's''''sss'' rendition of B.K.)
**Oooh, didn't know this (Taken from his IMDB thingy):
"James' most notable credits are: Obi-Wan Kenobi: Star Wars The Clone Wars - Leonardo: TMNT (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles) - Johnny: Johnny Test - Green Arrow: Batman The Brave and the Bold - Harry Osborn: The Spectacular Spider-Man - Milo Thatch: Disney's Atlantis: Milo's Return - Wooldoor Sockbat and the Producer: Drawn Together - The Fallen: Transformers Revenge of the Fallen video game - Tidus: Final Fantasy X,X-2 and Dissidia video games - Ratchet: Ratchet & Clank video game series - Gabe Logan: Syphon Filter video game series - Ash: The Animatrix Detective Story
James also "Voice-Doubles" for many of today's biggest names including: Johnny Depp - Ewan McGregor - Shia LaBeouf - Christopher Walken - Michael J. Fox - David Spade - Daniel Radcliffe - Clive Owen - Nicolas Cage - Christian Bale - Steve Carell - Matthew McConaughey - Justin Timberlake - James McAvoy - Alec Baldwin - Billy Bob Thornton - Sean William Scott - Denis Leary - Robin Williams - Ron Howard"

I agree, as long as they're done well. A good example is the Tony Montana voice in Scarface... it's done so convincingly well that it's very easy to forget that it's actually not Al Pacino doing the voice-over!!
the likenesses always work better in games based on movies, and obviously they are shit when the actor refuses to give his likeness. tom cruise did this once.
i do think they should try to use the likeness where possible, its like watching cartoon film where you are thinking of the actors face.
the last game that should have used the actors face was the new AVP, they used lance henriksons voice for bishop but had a different face. which was just rubbish. just put another voice in there it wont spoil it.

...um, that was SUPPOSED to look like Lance (dammit!) :(

don't remind me about this game... PAcino totally ruined the Godfather experience for me, just because he wouldn't allow his face on the game to favour Scarface...
for as long as I played Godfather I kept thinking: this guys is not Michael Corleone...
for god's sake, even Marlon Brando who was known to be a jerk did the dam voice and gave his face to the game...

Yes, I felt the same way about Michael in The Godfather game... but to be honest, I didn't think much of Marlon Brando's voice-over either (Duvall and Caan were great though), he sounded like someone else doing a bad impression of him in my opinion.

It was someone else for pretty much all of the game, as most of the stuff he did was unuseable due to the oxygen mask he had to use at the time...
Although the article says his voice wasn't used, I remember reading in a PS2 mag that he did about 3 lines they could use and those are in the game somewhere......

That expalins it!! I remember hearing the advert for the game on radio before it came out, and even that didn't sound anything like him... it probably sounds ok to most players, but to a die-hard Godfather film fan (like myself), it's such a poor voice-over. I'm actually quite glad to find out that it wasn't Brando. Reading that article, it's interesting to know that Coppolla wasn't happy with the game... "a kill or be killed slaughterfest", which is spot on really.
OK, so mabey not everything, but he is a well known voice actor and has been in quite a few games. Most notibly (recently at least) as The Joker in the recent Batman game and he also voices one or mabey two characters in Darksiders too. But, his voice in Darksiders is almost the same as his Joker voice and to me, this spoils things a little!

I think Brando probably did it for the money, wasn't he totally broke when he died? I read somewhere he was living off welfare cheques.
Let's not forget Dana Plato (Kimberley from Diff'rent Strokes) and her powerhouse of a performance in what is one of the greatest games ever made... Night Trap. ;)
A favorite game of mine had quite a few big actors/actresses in it...14yrs old now too. (or there abouts.
Ripper.
Ah, Ripper, yes. Very clever game that. Patti bought that for me a couple of years after it first came out - the first thing that stunned me was that it didn't get an 18 certificate! Nor any warnings about its content on the box! :o

I've never heard of that game before, but it looks interesting to say the least. I imagine that it was a PC game and not a Playstation/Saturn/.Mega CD game?
But, all I could think of while watcing it was this video....shit copy, but the only full version on Youtube at the moment as they keep removing it

Sorry ... back on topic, please!

lol, i think you need a whole extra 2gb to capture his craggly face. :-D
ah... yes, we used a procedural cragging system... ;)

Mark Hamill is in everything

How about Kari Wuhrer in the Command & Conquer games. (hubba-hubba!)
