I think it was...think that's where I saw it. Remember we had it lying around on VHS for yonks.
There's another film I remember vaguely...can't remember its name or any characters, but I remember the bad guy was a big black dude who fired lasers out of the end of his fingers/glove...wish I could remember more...I'll have to do some searching and trawling...
Your not thinking of an episode of red dwarf are you. With the simulants?.
EDIT: Come to think of it it may be one of the ones I mentioned earlier Gremloids (aka hyperspace), as it is actually a Star Wars Spoof so the bad guy may be the one you're on about. He's called lord bucket head as well, which just screams out the quality of the film imo :D
Nah, the one I can recollect wasn't a funny one...although if I watched it now I'd pee meself for other reasons!

HehHeh!! Nah, defo a movie this one...remember getting it from the newsagents (back in the day when just about every newsagents had a VHS rentals section)...remember borrowing it about 3 or 4 times...I must have thought it was good, I just wish I could remember more about it.
I remember the climactic fight scene was in some sort of control room, the hero was diving about the place and the main bad guy was shooting lasers out of his fingers/glove...don't remember if he was some sort of cyborg or just wearing a special suit.
Titan Find
Forbidden World
Brainstorm
Q - The winged serpent
Death Race 2000
Fantastic Planet ( Damn weird animation )
Radioactive Dreams
Choppin' Mall
Hardware ( that one is probably too good for this list )
And the utterly Awesome ' HELL COMES TO FROGTOWN! ' :D

That'd be one of the ones I mentioned... 'Humanoid.' His name was Lord Graal. Boy, you should've seen that at the cinema! It's funny how everyone back then watched it so seriously! :D

Holy shit! Yes it is Graz...
Humanoid it is...has Jaws in it...the minute I saw it, it all came flooding back - cheers man
The gorgeous Barbara Bach. Wonder if the character "Tom Tom" was the direct inspiration for the name of the Sat-Nav...?
the best thing is that a lot of them never renewed their copyright and passed into the public domain.
There's (used to be?) a public access analogue TV station in York that put them on (cause they couldn't afford real films I suppose), I remember one that was some sort of glowing orbs that fell from space, and possessed the local sheriff or some such nonsense :)
I remember watching this on satellite tv yonks ago, not only incredibly bad but also very unpleasant - it had a scene where a woman is raped by a giant worm-alien-thing.
I have a ridiculous amount of time for the dreadful "Wing Commander" film.
I know the director of that - Chris "coke belly" Roberts. He wrote a few games for Ocean (on the BBC - Wizadore?) back in the day. He was mates with Martin Galway, I think they went to school together.

I may alos be the only person in the world who enjoyed "Paycheck"
If you mean the one with Ben Affleck and Uma Thurman then no. I enjoyed it as well.
I love cheesy, crappy films. I'd even gladly watch Cave Alien 2 if it was ever made:
I'm a 21st Century digital boy, I don't know how to live but I've got a lot of toys.
I like "Dune" even though it makes no sense and deviates massively from the original book.
It's a David Lynch film; it's not supposed to make any sense. None of his other ones do, with the possible exception of The Straight Story, and I'm a bit suspicious of lurking subtexts in that one too.
Anyway, I view it in the same way as the Dune II computer game, which is if anything even less canon and all the better for it.
Yeeessssssss! I've been racking my brains for years as to what the space movie with the weird blue cover with the creature on it was called (ironically if I had've just typed creature I'd have found it under it's alternate title). My ma wouldn't let me watch that one when I was younger, and Ritz Video (pre-blockbuster shows you how long ago) had even got rid of their copy (along with all their other bizarre 80's sci-fi and slasher flicks) by the early 90's.
So I've never actually seen this but now I know it's name again I have a chance of getting it by less conventional means.
So thanks a lot (I may not be saying that once I've watched it? :D)!
If I make it back to England and one of those Speccy meet thingies I shall have to purchase you a large alchohol of your choice, as you have just ended years of suffering

Yea i remember that film AND that scene, it was horrible.
Has anyone seen 'The puppet master' with Donald Sutherland? That was a pretty good sci-fi film.

Yep, got it on DVD.
I like the fact that he works out rather quickly that the studio staff are under control by the alien, and starts beating them with his cane.
I'm a 21st Century digital boy, I don't know how to live but I've got a lot of toys.
oH, another two that are SO worth watching if you can track them down -
MOONTRAP - with the legend that is Bruce Campbell and
MOON 44 - With Malcolm McDowell
and Nightflyers - would love to see that one again...
Awsome films!
And.... anyone mentioned that really off the wall one with the bloke who played Robocop? Grrr... what was it called... it wasn't Ice Pirates but it was out around the same time....
Oh that's gonna bug me now....

It was a pretty good Alien Rip off from what I recall... damn hard to get hold of today though... maybe poss to pick up an old VHS from ebay

The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across the 8th Dimension?
I'm a 21st Century digital boy, I don't know how to live but I've got a lot of toys.
I don't know if people in america talk each other the way as it is offered in those hollywood movies, but I'd gladdly won't believe.
I doubt they do, something a lot of people say about films and TV drama is that very, very few of them feature characters talking like people do in real life. Everything is stylised and everyone is far sharper than anyone is in their day to day life.
I'm not a big fan of sci-fi (just the odd film here and there, erm, and Star Wars), so there's lots of sci-fi films I can't stand, but one that I thought was particularly god-awful in a stand-out way was Time Runner, starring Mark Hamill and the woman from Beat Street and Commando. It really was very, very poo... in my opinion, of course.
Strange that I'm not really into sci-fi movies though, as I do seem to really enjoy sci-fi games (Mass Effect, Dead Space etc.).

They Live!
...also another crapfest with Roddy Piper, Hell comes to Frogtown :D
It's utter crap but has a beautiful female nude vampire!
I have. I watched it on download and actually preferred this one to the first one. There might be a third one, as they've left an opening.
Forbidden World
Brainstorm
Q - The winged serpent
Death Race 2000
Fantastic Planet ( Damn weird animation )

Haha. Remember the begining titles? I think they went on for about 10 minutes!

I like "Dune" even though it makes no sense and deviates massively from the original book.
Also can't believe nobody has mentioned the, camper than Christmas,
Mike Hodges version of Flash Gordon.
Somebody mentioned "Night of the Comet" which is also great.
I may alos be the only person in the world who enjoyed "Paycheck"
Silent Running...
Booby Trap ( came out the same time as The Wraith )
And two that I still think are great even though the masses think they are awful -
Damnation Alley ( George Peppard ) and
The Last Chase ( Lee Majors )
I know the director of that - Chris "coke belly" Roberts. He wrote a few games for Ocean (on the BBC - Wizadore?) back in the day. He was mates with Martin Galway, I think they went to school together.
EDIT - (mono)
EDIT EDIT - Link
Sold!
There was something about those old videos, in their chunky big boxes, with lurid hand-drawn covers.
I'm a big fan of those cheapo Alien rip-offs. Some have already been mentioned in this thread... Xtro, Mutant 1 & 2, Titan Find...
Plan 9 from outer space (I think this was voted worst ever film)
If you mean the one with Ben Affleck and Uma Thurman then no. I enjoyed it as well.

The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across the 8th Dimension?
THATS THE ONE! and there be a speccy game of it too if memory serves. :D
