Is FF XIII better than Dragon Age: Origins?

edited March 2010 in Chit chat
I finished Dragon Age: Origins a few weeks ago and thought it was a simply fantastic game. I was thinking of getting FF XIII, but wondered if anybody on here has both Dragon Age and FF XIII and would share a comparison between the two.

I've heard that FF XIII is quite linear, but, the presentation and story look pretty damn good.

Any thoughts?

Edge only gave it 5/10 and they normally score the FF's quite highly.

    Fixed ;)

It's disappointing, but the sory is quite good and I'm liking the battle system (although only being able to control one character is a bit annoying in some cases). And the graphics are great.

I've heard that it does open up later on, but it too near the end to really be of any use. And there are loads of side missions to do at that point.

    I don't have DA:O so I can't compare them.
Oh, no. Every time you turn up something monumental and terrible happens.
I don’t think I have the stomach for it.

I like FF13 a lot but there's virtually no exploration in it at all for the majority of the game. Great story though, and the battle system is very good and gets better the more you progress and unlock extra abilities for the characters etc. Seems to be a very marmite game...people either love it or hate it.
