Utility:prediction titles

edited April 2010 in Infoseek database
I have just noticed that a new category in Infoseek exists: prediction and all horoscopes, tarot readings and other mumbo-jumbo are thrown into it.

I have two Polish titles to add to this category:

Biorytmy:
http://www.worldofspectrum.org/infoseekid.cgi?id=0019061

Numery Szczęścia:
http://www.worldofspectrum.org/infoseekid.cgi?id=0019060

This prediction category suits them perfectly, much better than current astronomy category.

Btw., I can see tht .tzx files for each of these programs are marked as unidentified copy.

These titles appeared only on the compilation. It was me, who sent both compilation .tzx and extract a separate .tzx for each program.

If it was illegal, maybe remove .tzx files for the programs and keep only compilation .tzx ?

All biorhythm titles are currently listed as type "Domestic". Should this be changed? (SPOT and SPEX also use Domestic here).

    This has been corrected!

No, they can stay - their status does not move them to the preservation project, it's just a generated value I cannot override. I can suppress it for original releases and re-releases, but not for compilation versions.

    It is your decision, Martijn.

I checked what Domestic category contains and I can see that it contains programs meant to be helpful in your private life, like phone databases, cooking recipes books, home budgets calcutations and so on.

As checking your biorythm can be part of your private life, this category for biorythms seems possible.

But it is wide category and I believe that "prediction" would be far more accurate.

    See:
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Biorhythm

The theory of biorhythms claims that one's life is affected by rhythmic biological cycles, and seeks to make predictions regarding these cycles and the personal ease of carrying out tasks related to the cycles

So I would change it to "prediction".

Martijn, I have also seen that all the Quinielas games are inside the Domestic category, when those games are more of a prediction for football games (Quiniela is a spanish kind of lottery where you have to guess the results of the football games every sunday). :)

I must say I'm not all that familiar with the concept of biorhythms (it all looks like very static formulae to me), but I guess you're right.
The genre has thus been updated to Prediction for those titles.

Prediction is meant to mean that the computer makes them. If the user has to predict, it sounds more like "Gambling: Utilities" to me...
Are all of these to be updated?

Mmmm that's a pretty hard one! To me prediction is when you have to say something before it happens, but there are some evidences of the thing to happen...while gambling is more when you don't know what to predict, you just say it waiting for good luck...I am not sure!

Notice there are two gambling genres: Gambling: Games and Gambling: Utilities.

The latter category is the one I was talking about, as it seems to fit.
Gambling is where money is involved, which a lottery generally does.
