If I may be so bold, I'd like to add the Children's Variety Club as they did so much good work for my brother:

And on a more personal note. A dear friend of mine who I went to primary school with has a lovely little lad called Alfie who unfortunately was diagnosed with Hypoxic Ischemic Encephalopathy shortly after birth due to oxygen starvation. Many friends better than I have raised a lot of funds to try to make the life he has is as wonderful as possible. I wouldn't consider myself a friend unless I asked as many people as possible to make contributions to maintain the quality of life that his parents have found for him. So please, if you have any spare change to give, no matter how small, please give something to improve the life of a little lad who didn't deserve what he was given. Thank you

The deal you're offering, for other people to buy you something less to blubber about. Does it come with a money-back guarantee?
Of petrol? Nearly a quid. You might have more luck if you call your bank to arrange an overdraft.
Once I've bought my first consignment of children, how long can I put them to work typing in hex listings of GTA4 before they keel over and I have to get another batch?
In exchange for three quid of venture capital, I want a 49% share in your future business, and your first-born son. Otherwise I'm out.
Oh, I never give to charity. Ever since I found out that my pal's wife earned 35K as a charity organiser. FFFFK that. Also, I ain't paying for the sons and daughters of rich people to ponce off on a holiday to supposedly to help poor people!
When I have spare cash I give it direct to someone who I see needs it. Like a homeless alky...AND I stop and talk to people!
you missed one

is very good. Set it as your homepage (or one of several, if like me you have Firefox boot up several home pages) and click on all six of them, it only takes a few seconds, but you do some good at no cost to yourself. If I made a browser I'd think seriously about making this mandatory for all users.
Ah, now that I don't mind doing.
There was an NSPCC shop up the road to me I used to buy a few bits n' pieces from there every now and then.
No! Buying the mag should be good enough for them!
No!
No what's wrong with building a road!
Maybe?
No! Maybe I would if they weren't one of those charities who guilt trip you with shocking imagery from around the world with sad music playing in the background.
No!
maybe?
Normally hoy some coins in the bucket at chrimbo, back in England anyway, but here in the US they stand ringing this really loud annoying bell, which makes me want to attack the sally army volunteer instead of donating.
Yeah here's one I'd give to if I knew it was legit, otherwise it's the CPL for me, although I did a lot of volunteer work for the CPL when I was too young to get a real job, that should be good enough for them.
I have done in the past and I occasionally throw some money in the little collection boxes at work that they have on the counter from time to time, these vary from childrens and animal charities to more obscure ones like raising money for keeping coma patients from getting unplugged. Given how much money all the fat yankee snobs round where I live supposedly have you'd think they'd have to hire a crane to take the money boxes away, but no greedy is as greedy does.
More than I have at the moment.
I do and since I'm older and a bit more sensible these days I'm actually more thankful for what I do have than resentful of what I don't. I can't stand these spoiled fuckers who complain they're poor cos' they haven't got a spare tenner to order a pizza in....fuck off that's what I say
The charities themselves do enough begging, I'll give money to a charity when and how I choose, nothing worse than them coming to your house and after filling your head with reasons you should be ashamed of the way you live and for not parting with your cash weekly they demand that you sign something that lets them debit the money from your bank account. Sod that! Like I said I'll donate when and how I see fit.
Shame eh?
They are not allowed?? why not?
probably so they don't sell you something faulty that will set on fire or electocute you.
most likely to cover themselves from being sued.
They simply have no way to test the equipment to make sure it is safe and working (the shops are staffed by wrinkly old grannies, who's going to do the electrical safety test?)
Also they just get loads of crap dumped on them, broken tellies etc, that they then have to pay to have taken away. So in most cases it's better for them to say "No"
Larger places like the big Red Cross shops *do* take electrical goods since they have the infrastructure in place to deal with them

Just cant afford to get someone in to test that its okay, just not cost effective. Crazy in a way but in todays day and age they'll probably get someone sueing as they got an electric shock off something etc
