Try the expensive stars with the same titles you used for the cheap ones and see how that goes. That'll hopefully give you an idea which stars to go for.

Aye, that sounds like a good idea (didn't really think of it like that), I'll try that next then.

I had a bit of a look around the code last November when trying to learn a bit about assembler.

It appears you get a gold disc when your cumulative album sales pass 40, 100, 170 and 250 units, with a units being awarded for each place above 10th, so 9th would be worth 1 unit and 2nd would be worth 8 units. I didn't see the singles as having any effect at all (but I could very easily have missed something)

Then I got bored and just added loads of album sales to the cumulative total at BED5 each week to win the game. Not a very satisfying way to get the 4th disc, but it does look close to impossible otherwise.

That's very handy to know, thanks for the info.

It might seem impossible... but I'm gonna bloody do it, I tells ya!! Even if it kills me!! :D

I hope someone completes it, full kudos to anyone that does.

My other top tip is to deliberately go bankrupt on the first game, and play properly on the second game with the same rockstars. Selecting the rockstars takes up a valuable gameday, one that could be more profitably used on a tour date. It can make all the difference when going for med-to-high price rockstars.

When I said the singles appear to have no effect, I meant towards the gold discs. Obviously they have an effect on the album chart position.

I'm half-tempted to root through the code again to see if I can find out the best way to name and release singles.

I spent a lot of time playing this game back 'in the day' and i still fire it up for the occasional game. I remember once getting to number 1 but somehow didn't get a gold disc, then one of my members died and the band fell apart! Apart from that most singles i release tend to get to around number 6.
I'll try again this weekend (haven't got a chance to play it this week as too busy with work) and will use the tips Jack98 mentioned earlier.

I played again last night. I had my single and album at number 1 for 4 weeks both at the same time and I DIDN'T get a gold disc!! What's that all about?

Just played it again. Got to the end of August with 3 gold discs and I was SO sure that I would do it with so much time left. Then within a week all of my pop stars had quit!! That's just not fair!!

Excellent stuff. If you do decide to have a rummage through, let us know what you find.

Awww man... unlucky!! I don't suppose you managed to save a wee snapshot around August?

I'll have another go using everyone's tips at some point today. I'll keep you all informed as to how I get on.

Ah, no. I'm afraid I didn't save a snapshot of the game. Sorry :( I will do next time

Not quite as good as last time! I got to December with the number 1 album and the number 1 single but it STILL didn't give me that last gold disc. Bast!!

I did save it at this point as a snapshot but as it's a denied game I'm not sure if I should give it out at all. I don't want to get anyone into trouble.

Darn... so close!! And you had Chrimbo number one?? What's it gonna take to finish this bloody game?!

Anyway, how did the ticket sales go? ;)

Ticket sales were great!! Nope, no special method of getting number 1s. I was playing with Michael Jackson, David Bowie, Madonna and Prince (can't remember their names in the game!)

As someone else mentioned in this thread, when a single whent down past number 7 I would release a new one to try and keep the album in the top 5. It usually works, too.

The Atari ST version of RSAMH was pretty good.

There's also another management game no-one else mentioned called 'To Be On Top' by Rainbow Arts which was on C64 and Atari ST. (Planetemu.net has the C64 version.)

Can't get that to work. However, BED6 to BED9 are the gold disc flags and you can switch them on and off as you like. BED9 poked with 255 instantly completes the game.

Are there any rock management games for the PC? (except Rock Manager by Mindscape).

How did you do that without going bankrupt in the first week? I can't seem to make enough to keep going.

Ah - I wondered how long it would be till someone asked me that question! I'm going to have to come clean - I used the infinite money cheat!!

doubt there's any pokes for getting num1 is there

Clive: Excellent boss. Our fantastic little rock group managed to light all 4 discs, making them superstars the world over. All in a year's work, as they say!

    Cecil Pitt: Shut up, Clive.

this is my prediction of the ending.

You're probably not far wrong, Chris!
I'm afraid that I don't know of any pokes for getting to number 1, Jack :(
