The Shaky Game
Was in me charity shop today sorting through a big pile of audio cassettes. Cam across the album "The Bop Won't Stop" by Shakin Stevens and was just about to chuck it in the bin when I noticed the word Spectrum on the cover...

I think I had it on vinyl...or it might have been one of those flexi vinyl things..
(jump to 7m12s)
so now I know where ya money is going these days :)
I finally got a com-con the other day 99p , ?3 postage.. i bid on it for a laugh, I thought it'd go for silly money.. made a nice surprise as I was out bid on 5 things.
Edit: Uncooool! I just realised that I binned this tape years ago!
I remember TZXing it years ago.
a school friends Shane had the game, thats where I saw it.
was it on flexi-disc also?
Not really, binning anything with Shaky is an act of cool, the true act of uncool is owning it in the first place :p
Labyrinth shows as 1982. Was this the first version of this style of maze game or is it based on an earlier game?
Maybe Shaky was a bit Speccy fan back then.
I think it predates that, and was a copy of one of the early (Centipede era) coin-op formats.

Thanks, hadn't heard of this.
I like the way instead of 'lives' you have 'Shakys'.
The WOS entry reads:
"The program audio is preceeded by a message from Shakin' Stevens himself, explaining the concept to less computer literate fans".
Is this true? If so, is there any chance of hearing what he says? :-)
Shaky? Is that you?
(Still, he was always way better than Elvis P)
... ;)
I remember playing it in salt hill , galway in the arcades there.. other games were 20p.. but that was 10p coz.. well it was ancient :)
That's it. And yes, he really does call it a "four eight k computer"
:lol::lol:
Bless him, I thought he was supposed to be 'explaining the concept to less computer literate fans' - so he doesn't tell them how to load or play the game, just to listen to his album again!
