Q. on game Bejeweled Blitz.

edited August 2010 in Chit chat
Why, oh, why, is the gameplay of Bejewelled Blitz (on FB) so short?

A minute!

That's how long it takes me to get into it and start enjoying it!

What's the logic behind such a short playtime?

And don't gimme that "Oh, people like to give it a quick go at work"etc, etc.

Make a different version for those quickies!

I need my 5-10-15 minutes of foreplay then another 4-6 hours of continual play ... I'm not a Minuteman!

    Web version
    iOS version

Web version has classic and action modes, both of which ought to last longer than a minute. iOS has them too, and an endless mode which does what it says on the tin. Blitz is great though - I'm leading my Facebook friends this week with 438,250.

I find it's actually better in this one minute version and gives the game that much needed "one more go" factor! I stopped playing it a while ago because I was playing it for over an hour at a time, tying to beat my best score, or trying to fill one of the bar chart scores (I've only filled one so far).

Before they introduced the "cheating" gems, my friends used to be able to rack up some seriously impressive scores in one minute. I have 2 friends who were regularly getting scores of 350,000+ every week! Now those "cheating" gems are available, their scores have doubled or trippled.

Stick with it and you'll see why it's set for one minute at a time ;-)

    Look ... I'm slow ... ok? ... as in ... I'm ... s-l-o-w ...

It takes me about 50 seconds to warm up and then what ... 10 seconds to actually play the game!

    BAH!

I'm not brilliant at it either, but I stuck with it and got better. But, that kind of speed game isn't for everyone.

I'll never have reflexes anywhere near as fast as this player though...

Well, he/she/it does have one great advantage which helps in developing these sort of reflexes ... I can see the benefit from being able to see three pieces ahead, you can learn to plan the layout of the bricks easier. That's my take on it though, I wouldn't mind a Tetris game that gives me an edge like that.

    But yer, speed-demon for sure.

it doesn't seem that fast, the one on the DS seemed to go that fast, the blocks dont stick instantly you can slide them around.
