YouTube "Featured Video" classification

Is there any rhyme or reason to it? A few of my videos are now "featured videos". What does it mean, besides being placed top of the list of related videos you get with the videos you view on the site?

I dunno but most featured videos I watch have adverts stuck onto them. Some of them turn out to be crap too. I'm not saying that of yours though.

I certainly haven't paid anything, or nominated anything, or anything like that. Just uploaded them.

Are you being paid, nominated or anything like that?
(i.e. have "they" contacted you? Do your vids now have adverts plopped with them? One would think you'd get a piece of the cakepie then.)

No contact, and the ads placed in/around the videos without me being asked - but no problems with that considering it's a free service. I certainly don't earn a penny through anything I do for the scene.

Don't know of I've been nominated or anything like that.
