Bit of a cop out, i know. Probably go for Civ if i had to choose just one. Syndicate was great. Hiding round the corner with a flame thrower and toasting everyone that comes round!

yeah ha ha and watching them run around on fire.
my fave has to be the laser though, wait for em to line up and zapppp.
i had the game on pirate so i had no instructions, then one day i pressed my keyboard and all my guys exploded, that was a seriously a wtf moment.
@ znorx - gladly as youd be rubbish in a fight, what with them not being turn based.
Seconded. Syndicate is perfect just the way it is.
I'd probably go for Oblivion, to be honest. Or perhaps Deus Ex. Oh, I don't know...
hmm, i was gonna say fallout 3, but im not sure in years to come id have fun playing it on an emulator. i think the modern ones are superb, but can't beat my amiga memories. :p
Oh, wait ... duh ... I may have "misunderstood" what was meant with "fave game across all formats" ... I, for whatever reason, had the idea that we were talking about games that came out on several formats.
Perfect Dark (N64). In fact, the whole gamut of computer gaming can be defined on the N64; on the one hand you have Perfect Dark, the best game ever (IMHO), and on the other you have Superman 64, a "game" so bad it makes Dizzy look vaguely tolerable.
Conkers Bad Fur Day closely followed by The Empires games and Starcraft.
CBFD on the N64, by the way, is fantastic* - not so much for the single player game (although that is mostly very good indeed, and probably the funniest non-adventure game I've ever seen), but the muiltiplayer modes. I've probably spent longer playing War: Colours (just against bots) than I have 95% of all other computer/console games put together. That mode, with it's one map, and little variation is so amazingly addictive, and is by far the best Team Fortress game I've ever played on any system.
I always play as the Squirrels though, never as the Tediz, as I can't bring myself to shoot the dopey but lovable looking squirrels. It's like Harvesting the little sisters in Bioshock, or running over the dogs in Carmageddon 2 - I can never bring myself to do it.
* The XBox version of Conker, Conker: Live and Reloaded is very disappointing, they got rid of most of the good stuff in the multi-player modes, and ruined it. Avoid it like a British politician avoiding prison no matter what laws (s)he breaks.
I need to get round to buying this game. Not sure if my laptop could run it though.
I've just started playing Oblivion again, I've made several attempts (XBox 360 version), but I always get distracted by other games (mostly first person shooters). Oblivion is very good, and seems easier to get used to than Morrowind, and the games' devotees (of whom there seem to be millions) seem to be split 50%/50% as to which of the two games is better - so you might want to get Morrowind and try that.
I take it you have Deus Ex and also System Shock 2? These are sort of like Oblivion and Morrowind, only far less open-world, and with definate endings, but they are much easier to get drawn into, at least for those new to first person shooter/RPGs (i.e. me). I love both DE and SS2, and they are two reasons why I want to love Oblivion and Morrowind, but so far those latter two have put me off by their very open nature. Oh well, I'm trying again in Oblivion, I'm not far yet (only started playing yesterday) - I've escaped from the sewer, and have killed a couple of bandits, had a kip in their tent, gone shopping in a city, and am currently hoping to get a better weapon or at least higher fighting skills (hence my looking through the shops).
Comments
probably 'syndicate'
Syndicate would have been exceptionally cool as a turn-based game but in my opinion they messed it up royally the way it is.
it'd been god awful turn based, just a sabre team clone.
Let's just agree to takethisoutintotheparkinglot!!!

had a lot of time for it on pc, didn't like it on other formats.
No worries, there will be only one turn, MINE!
And don't you dare bleed all over my silk-tie!

@ znorx - you cant afford a silk tie.
It's ok, I can multitask ... GreenCard and Mile, both in the same turn.
Velour ... silk ... tomato ... tomatoe.
Are mods and user content allowed?
In a few months time, Civ 5 might be my all time favourite game.
You should see the cape that goes with it ... I wear it oh, so well, when I fight RTSers.
your comforter isn't technically a cape, no matter how much you swish it about.:grin:
Pfff... technicalities ... I have an anchor inside my comf-err-cape so when I swis-err-turn around, those RTSers get clonked out easily enough.

best game video ever.
*yawn* ... sorry, fell asleep within 15 seconds.
I thought that one was only N64?
I so dumb, I love me long times.

Runners up: Deus Ex, Goldeneye, Fallout .

I could probably blabber on about faves on each platform but that's not really answering the question.
lemme guess.
its probably something Japanese.
something you can only get on import
only you've ever heard of
and involves stabbing
maybe a flying snake.
Or it's got something to do with red and white balls, and having to apparently hoard them all for some reason or another.
