I've seen that TT before. I love vinyl but thats out of my league. Its bound sure to pack up some day and then be wasted investment due to the unavailability of parts.

Its one reason I want a Lin Sondek someday, because they are good (if a little over rated), and have loads of spares available.

I currently own a Systemdek IIX and Technics SL1220 Mk2a.

You can also play (badly) your LPs with a scanner and PC. I've heard that the laser player needs the LP to be ridiculously clean. A needle will push loose dirt out of the groove. The laser will click on every speck, so you need to buy an expensive disk cleaner too.

My Dad had a tricked up LP12 Sondek which sounded very nice. He's replaced it with something more esoteric now though.

I love Vinyl, but even I wouldn't get one of them, even if I could afford it. Apparently dust sounds like rifle fire, and the cleaning machine costs more than the turntable!

I'll stick with my Technics deck.

So is the idea of the laser thingy, that it wont damage the vinyl?.

That and that it can aparently pull more detail off of the record.

the lazer thing was mentioned on either gear slutz.. or a pro audio forum I'm on ages ago.. errm most of the really high end.. most people wouldn't know..

but GS forum they get really "funny" about things..and a bit snobbish / elitist sometimes.

mine has a reversible needle, for 78s on one side and 33/45 rpm on the other.

And an autochanger (only it's broken)
