After playing "Guitar Hero AeroSmith", one would feel tempted to say the guitarist from AeroSmith... (it's ridiculous how they made such easy songs transform in to such a hard game, some of the songs are more challenging to play than Hot for Teacher on World Tour...).

Django Reinhardt
Robert Johnson
Johnny Marr
George Harrison
Jeff Buckley
No Hendrix on my list of fav's, but I can't understand anyone knocking him.
I don't love his music but as a guitarist myself I have nothing but respect for what he did. Chord melodies alone made his playing so different.
1 - Brian May
2 - Nuno Bettencourt
3 - Jimi Hendrix
4 - Steve Vai
5 - Slash
...resisted the urge to put me on that list! :p
Ooh, I'd have to take exception to Brian May, he's made a 40 year career out of one guitar solo. I've seen him live 3 times and he's screwed up every time.
I mean how can a professional guitarist screw up the intro to All Right Now...

Fair enough. I've never seen him live, but I grew up listening to Queen and there's some decent recoded stuff there...nearly went to see him at The Apollo in Manchester about 17 years ago, but there were 3 of us and we could only get 2 ticks...so we all decided not to go - I should have mule-kicked the other 2, bought both tickets and taken a nice lass or something...damn my stupidity!
I always hate these "best guitarist" lists - there's never enough places available! I could quite easily include Joe Walsh, Steve Tyler, Neil Young, Joe Satriani, Dave Gilmour, Eric Clapton, Zakk Wylde, Ritchie Blackmore, Jim Martin...you get the picture!! :smile:

I know what you mean, I could probably do 5 or six top 5 guitarist lists. I could have included Steve Morse, Alex Lifeson, Gary Moore etc.
Steven Tyler plays drums, keyboards and harmonica, he doesn't play guitar...

Gah! I meant Joe Perry!! What made it worse is I'm actually listening to Aerosmith...I think I had the mental equivalent of a wardrobe malfunction there...:oops:

Steve Vai
Paul Gilbert
John Petrucci
Joe Satriani
John 5
Maybe they are not the greatest in terms of fame, relevance or merit, but while I have a huge respect for Hendrix, he's not the one I enjoy the most.
Besides, I'm also one of those people who doesn't really get what the fuss about David Gilmour or Mark Knopfler is. Mneh. :p
* Mark Knopfler
* Eric Clapton
* Joe Satriani
* Dave Gilmour
* Jimmy Page

Listen to David Gilmour's solo at the end of the track 'sheep'. It's amazing, or listen to Comfortably numb.
Joe Perry.
