Yeah, same here...was at a mate's tonight, and the roads were a nightmare when my cousin brought me back...proper sheets of ice under a layer of snow! Was meant to be going out tomorrow too, but as it's snowed non-stop since I got back, and I haven't seen any Gritters, it looks like I'll be stuck here....
The snow has started falling really heavily here in the central belt, i had to go out in to the shops for milk and i didn't pass a single soul, the roads were dead as well. probably because they haven't been gritted.
Could be looking at a day off work if this keeps up..............
Must admit i love driving on the motorways when its foggy or tons of rain, but the second it snows i completely hate it !
As soon as it snows i just stay indoors, if a trips not essential i dont bother. I'm alright driving on snow/icey roads, but i've just seen way too many other cars have near accidents, thats what makes me nervous.
At the risk of sounding like a coffin dodger, I reckon it's getting a bit treacherous on the pavements, as I discovered walking home from work tonight.. All the snow seems to have compacted on the pavements, and I think there's probably some underlying ice too..
All got a bit 'bambi on ice', I saw a couple of people slip over, not badly hurt though..
Luckily don't have to walk to work tomorrow, so hopefully some of it might melt a bit over the next couple of days.

No chance of that up here when it's -7C during the day!
I have ridden a motorcycle in appalling winter weather once.
It was Christmas eve, I was staying somewhere rural with friends over Christmas, it was about 30 miles from where I worked. I set off in light fog, there was a bit of snow on the verges but it was okay. But the weather changed. I was loaded up with Xmas goodies which I took to work, to save going home again. I stopped en route, around Ford near Arundel to assist a girl on a broken down MZ, but as is often the case with MZ's she'd fixed it with gaffer tape and wire, so I went on my way to Shoreham-by-Sea
By the time I crossed the river Adur a thick sea fog had rolled in, it was starting to freeze, as I set off up the single track, 6 miles of it, up the hill the fog was so bad I could not longer see my speedo at one point. It came and went a little, rather like what I guess a pea souper would have been like. Then I hit the frozen snow, and put my feet down like skis and slip slided my up the hill. The last bend was a hairpin with a big drop on one side. I stopped the bike, and tip toed it around, and then set off the last mile of track, got stuck in a tractor rut in the snow, and had to stay in it, then all of a sudden the fog cleared. There was a car coming the other way, who graciusly pulled over a little bit flashed their lights and stopped, it took me about a minute to pass them.
When I got off the bike I had icicles in my beard, and my friends handed me a drinking horn full of mulled ale which I downed in one, but I spilled a lot cos I was shaking with cold so much.
it isn't snowing here now, but just about every road in and out of the town a a few miles beyond the town limits is blocked with fresh snow, icey hills, and jacknifed trucks and abandoned cars - according to local radio
Snowed a bit more up here yesterday....thought I wasn't going to make it to my flat as the roads were quite bad. Managed it though, and the pipes still haven't burst...yet!
Back at the parents again now though, and probably stay here over Christmas as the roads are pretty bad, and it's too bloody cold to go anywhere...-19 the other night!
