What is Green Jesus Day?

edited December 2010 in Chit chat
It's in the event list for today.. (I didn't even know there was an events list!)

Is it an in-joke/regional joke or just something I've never heard of?! :-?

Haha! There was a rather colourful (pun definitely intended) thread last year. Somebody suggested we should have Green Jesus Day every year, so I put it on the calendar for a laugh.

It's been on there 1 whole year, and I'll admit I'm really surprised nobody removed it

Well this is the second one so Happy Green Jesus day everybody.

I nominate we should seek out and play Speccy games with a "Green Jesus" in them; that is, games with a green character in them who looks like Jesus (ie has a beard and long hair ;) ).

Nothing really I never though that far ahead, Green Jesus day commemorates the time a Catholic teacher beat the shit out of me for colouring a picture of Jesus as a child helping Mary draw water from a well green instead of well.....not green.

I was 5 maybe 6 years old and she really waled on me as well knocked the wind right out, couldn't breathe, couldn't cry, didn't even know why I was getting hit.

    Crazy old bint!

It also commemorates the locking of religious threads on WOS ;)

is there something inherently blasphemous about the colour green then?

I could understand if you'd coloured him in red, with horns and a pitchfork...

Green denotes naivety, which is close to being nativity so I think it's quite appropriate.

Colour psychology is mostly cognitive. A colours semiotics will be different depending on where you are.

You could be right this is the pic I posted up on the first ever Green Jesus Day.

If only t'interwebs had've been readily available in schools in between 1983-1985ish time then I could've showed my teacher this statue. Then she may have been less psychotic :D
