Strange device, TR1?

Browsing through ebay I came across someone selling a speccy, he'd done a video and one of the devices in it was a TR1, picture was a bit blurry so i couldnt make out anything else, anybody know what it is? apparently the tape leads are plugged into it so im assuming its some kind of copying device

    Does look a bit strange.

    I don't have any audio on this machine so not sure if there's any on the video.

    I'd guess it might be some kind of noise reduction unit perhaps ? :-?

    Heres the video link, it appears at 1.20, is upside down and spider, youre not missing anything with the audio, just loading noise from his failed attempt at loading Pitfall 2!

    Hello,

    I am wondering about the need for a "power supply". Otherwise I would think it could be a simple transformer (TR1) transforming the low output impedance of the player into the gigher one of the spectrums input while increasing the voltage of the signal. It would be a very cheap and simple (voltage) amplifier for the players signal.
