He just, knows.
Always very dark, deep, philosophical and sometimes cryptic.
I've got a book of poetry by him too, also very good.
Yes..! Definitely my favourite metal-y lyricist.. Dreamweaver lyrics particularly were sheer class.
Well, Dreamweaver is one of the best albums of all time
sabbat / skyclad :P #for those who've diiiiiiiiiiii ed
can i say mike skinner of the streets? oop controversial
Please tell me you're joking. :-P
Some of my faves: Jim Morrison, Gil Scott-Heron, Mike Patton and Cedric Bixler-Zavala.
his first album opm i loved from the day it came out, i could relate to the whole album, id lived those lyrics, those lyrics meant a lot, i could feel them, could relate to them.
he could include whole stories in one songs lyrics, like eminem does
Tim Booth (James), Miles Hunt (Wonder Stuff), Ray Davies (Kinks), Simon Friend (Levellers), Whoever wrote the lyrics for Rage Against The Machine - was it Tom Morello?
Personally, I think he sucks, like Eminem does.
Each to their own though dude...
an itch too sensitive to scratch
the light that falls through the cracks
an insect too delicate to catch
I hear the endless murmur
every blade of grass that shivers in the breeze
and the sound that comes to carry me
across the land and over the sea"
Neil Finn
Robert Plant - The Rain Song
Roger Waters - Wish You Were Here
Richard Thompson - Meet on the Ledge
:P
(That's about as far away from the whole Streets/Eminem debate as i could manage!)
