What web browser?

edited February 2011 in Chit chat
Hi Guys
What browser are you using on your laptop/pc?
Is it still a case of either I.E or Firefox or have some people moved on to Google Chrome or some other?

I'm quite happy running Firefox on both my crumbly old desktop and my nice new netbook. I've heard good things about Chrome, though.

SRWare Iron. It is Google Chrome without the privacy issues.

IE, it's as good as FireFox without being resource greedy and eventually coming to a halt.

Yeah whenever i use Chrome and run something like spybot after it often lists a few privacy problems which i would not get using Firefox or IE

    Firefox as primary browser.

I do have Safari, Chrome, IE and Opera installed but only tend to use these when I need to test something for browser compatibility.

I use Opera most of the time, although I have Chrome and Firefox installed for those sites that won't play ball in other browsers... Oh, and I have IE installed in a Virtual Machine in case some websites complain about my using Linux...
    So far, so meh :)

For development work, Firefox, because the tools and add-ins are awesome.

Chrome for general browsing, it's solid as a rock and very, very quick.

It took me a long time to move away from IE. I wouldn't touch that buggy piece of bloated crap with a barge pole nowadays. As a web developer it's doubly annoying because you have to code around it's faults.

Firefox. Used to use Opera but that went downhill after 9.x. I've never fully tried Chrome. I do occasionally use IE, but not often.

--edit-- I did use Safari, but that didn't like half the sites I used so I ditched it which was a shame as it was quite good.

I would really like to dump Opera considering it really has trouble with some sites. But until there is a way to transfer all the passwords across into firefox/chrome I won't be moving, :(

IE9, can't really be beat. And they've finally surpassed pretty much everyone else on the standards compliance once again, so finally people might stop whining about it (though I doubt it)

Chrome mostly....but still have IE for sites that seem to work better with that....

I've voted other, as I'm using Puppy Linux on an old laptop (Pentium III 128meg) - web browser is Dillo

Firefox mainly, though I'm on Opera now as I've just logged on quickly to check my e-mails (the number of ad-ons I have for Firefox make it too slow for a quick log on/log off when I'm off out somewhere).

Firefox is now my main browser, but still use IE on the odd occasion (or when a site fails to work in Firefox; for example, WH Smith's online shop...)

I'm currently getting used to Chrome (previously an avid FireFox user), it's as good as Ff without being resource greedy and eventually coming to a halt like IE.

people say that but it's never happened to me and I've been using firefox for years now

    BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

IE is getting better but they've certainly not "finally surpassed pretty much everyone else"

It happened to me every couple of weeks, a complete nightmare. Shame really cos it was quite a nice browser.

It is. The thing that keeps me using firefox, even when little things annoy me, is the add-on architecture. I can't bear using IE these days it's just unusable.

I get the odd hiccup in FF (mainly just unresponsive for about 20 seconds). Happens every couple of days and it only started with the last update.

I get the odd freeze but that's almost always a broken javascript or flash script going out of control (though flash doesn't kill firefox any more since they got around to pushing plugins into separate processes)
Ideally each tab would run in it's own sandboxed thread (like chrome does) but it appears that's not going to happen any time soon :(

It's random with me, no specific site but happens more often at the start of the day. Even leaving the PC for 10 minutes after booting and leaving FF for a few mins aswell doesn't make a difference.

Used to use IE for years but realised how slow it really was.

Moved onto Firefox which i've been on since BUT its becoming like IE, taking a fair while to load up. Think the browsers seem roughly the same, start off pretty good and then get slowww as anything

I like to use IE as it was the first browser that I used and I know where I am with it. I don't have to mess about with different plug-ins and I've got a decent pop-up blocker running with it. Norton likes it and it does what I need it to.

I use Fire Fox from time to time, but only whenI want to use the video downloader plug in, but I don't use that as often as I did when I first found out about it. I don't like the way that Fire Fox makes you update either. It gives me an option to update if I want, but after a while, it just updates itself anyway!

but, but, it can't possibly update itself without you giving it administrative privileges... :)
