6 months ??! I did 6 minutes once and was shaking like a leaf - 'must post gubbins with Miles and Boozefreak' etc.
Its a cult, once you join you just cant leave
You've hardly posted any real "gubbins" for ages, you only seem to pop up to stick your oar in when there's a thread about a waster or a tax dodger, or a tramp who's really a millionaire masquerading as crazy drunken pete so he can buy a widescreen tv.......Or Matchday :D
You were much more fun back in the day when you'd had too many winegums :p
So much for enjoing a nice night of gaming. :( I plaid all of 1 minute of Rollercoaster tycoon 3 before a root kit infected my machine.
I know how, once I lost the game CD (I found it later) so downloadd a no CD EXE. However, it seems that this exe is harbouring some nasy suprises.
Thanksfully, Kaspersky AV jumped into action and saved the day. It knew it was a root kit, but could not cure it, only the things it was letting in, so after a few moments Kaskpersky realised this and so locked down EVERYTHING.
I had to hunt down a fix on Kaspersky's website by switching off the firewall for a moment. I downloaded a fix and it has found the problem and had now dealt with t
Thankfully my machines ok and things have retuerned to normal. But thats killed my night of gaming. Now its time foe bed. :(

Ha ha yeah i'm sat here poised for any rants on long term unemployed youngsters or fat mammas with 17 kids.
Now i've had to be sensible as i'm a mod, my hairs parted to one side, i tuck my shirt in my jeans now and i wear sandles.
I've even tried not writing 'back in the day...' so much ;)
Havent been on most of my normal forums that much. I'm frickin addicted to this ipod gadget and loving it. Going to organise a meeting of a few WOSsers in November at the next retro show though. Think you should fly over for it !
That serves you right for downloading form dodgy warez sites.
You should stick to more reputable ones in future.
Ironically it transpires that the problem was not the no CD exe. When I started up the game Kaspersky flagged it as a keylogger. I know some game do but are quite safe, but I went online to check if this was a known problem.
I typed in Kaspersky False Positive Rollercoaster Tycoon 3. Google came accross a site with a fairly good description of the problem, stating that some copies had been infected due.
Howver the irony is, that it was not the exe that gave me the virus but the site I went to when trying to check if it was ok.
Still the weekends nearly here and I plan to have some retro gaming action.
I'm even working on a game for the crap spectrum games compo.
I don't know if it's my age but i don't get the same excitement when a new PC game appears that i want (like Civ V or GTA IV).
When i had a speccy i was really excited when games like Sim City, Lemmings and Carrier Command were released. I would eagerly read reviews in YS but nowadays i just get the same excitment.
Maybe i'm just getting old............

Carrier Command drove me mad with excitement. I remember my nana buying it for me as a Christmas present and being told I was allowed to read the manual before Christmas. I'd memorized the whole damn thing by Christmas day then the family never saw me. It was such a good game and the anticipation made it all the better.

I'm totally back into it, the ipod has reminded me a ton of the Speccy days. Great homebrew games, bit Ocean type licenses also. Eg this morning just realised Speedball Evolution was available to download, brought back great memories of the (ahem) Amiga.
Before this none of the latest consoles interested me at all. Now i've got 200+ games on this device, Speccy emulator, Grand Theft Auto (Great version), great platform/shoot em ups and a lot of retro games. Plus throw in films/music, graphic novels to read on it and i'm like a kid again back in the 80's getting excited by new releases and seeing previews of upcoming ones
