They are impressive but i dont know, just seems like someone knitting a jumper with a speccy loading screen or that. The time it took to make that picture with those beads, just think theres better things to do with your time (like replying about it on a forum ;)

Hmm? On the site he wrote "July 10th, 2006: All tiles completed". 6 years eh?

I love that sort of craft project... a guy on the Lemon64 forum recently used the Lego ordering service to create some International Karate fighters.

You're a failure, and that's what the hama beads design you make should say! :p

    you harsh man,
I've had to make hamma diggers, dinosaurs, santas and snowmen.

but just not got round to any spectrum themed items.

I don't beleive many kids actually complete these hama projects, its really the parents.

I would do this if I knew how to stop the splits from happening, I've seen some brilliant Hama Bead sprite-art on Deviant Art, and I want in on it.

A guy in Spain ordered a Spectrum using that same service, and took it to a retro event. :)

That reminds me of a cross-stitched Manic Miner loading screen, someone posted it in the spanish forums some time ago, his wife made it.

How about a design with 'I want to go out in the sunshine to play with my friends during the school holidays but my dad is making me do this beads rubbish ;)'

    Oh yes, this one... http://www.flickr.com/photos/quenerapu/sets/72157613145351169/

(It's the title screen, though. The loading screen would be a bit... challenging ;-) )

When the first section was complete the guy should have moved the image half way across the backing, and add the next part of the image on, re-iron then repeat. He could have then done the image in strips. which would have resulted in less joins.

Yes, I was wrong, it's the title screen!

    That loading screen looks great!

Now if someone really has time on their hands and wants to go one step further they could try creating a loading effect...!!

    - just use black & white beads to start with for the pixels
    - do it byte by byte in Spectrum screen loading style & order
    - take a still picture each time 8 beads have been placed
    - when it's finished, go through replacing the B&W beads in each character square with the coloured beads..

...Then you could run the still pics together to form an animation!

Hmmm.. I might give it a go when I retire!
