peoples thoughts on a few random games for the ps2 ive noticed on amazon for a penny

    From the ones I've played...

Stuntman - It's alright, but I found it to be a bit too difficult and frustrating. There's a lot of learning when to do certain things..Some people think it's the best game ever though...

Enter The Matrix - Definitely worth a penny, but it's a bit of a disappointment...

Alone In The Dark 4 - Only played the PS1 version, but it was alright...apart from a bug involving portraits that stopped me completing it (which I believe was fixed for the PS2 version)...

Shadow Of The Colossus is one of my favourite games ever...it's basically just a collection of Boss Fights joined together by traipsing across empty landscapes, but it's done so well and the landscapes are so nice to ride around that it all works! (Well, for most people..)

You can see my collection here..

Tempest X - though that might be a Ps1 game? Anyway, it's a good one.

You're missing lots of SNK retro packs. Here is a list of those that were released in the UK:

    Art of Fighting Anthology
Fatal Fury: Battle Archives Vol. 1
    King of Fighters 2000/2001, The
King of Fighters Collection: The Orochi Saga , The
    Metal Slug Anthology
    SNK Arcade Classics Vol. 1
    World Heroes Anthology

I have all of these, and other retro compilations not in your list. :)

Well, at least you'd be able to play with "normal" controls on the PS2 version of Metal Slug Anthology. I would give SNK Arcade Classics Vol. 1 a miss unless you really have to buy it, as the videos stutter (intro and unlockables) on the PAL PS2 version.
  • edited March 2011
    Some good PS2 games;

    Wip3out Fusion
    Ico
    Baldur's Gate - Dark Alliance
    Baldur's Gate - Dark Alliance 2
    Rez

Unfortunately my PS2 suffered from the 'disk not recognised' bug, I did take it apart once to fix it, which worked while the machine was dismantled, but I guess the pressure from the case being back on threw the drive out of alignment again. I've not had the motivation to go through it again, although I would like to at one point, there were some great PS2 games.

I'm gonna buy the Streetfighter II Anniversay Edition next time I make it to ye game shoppe. Funny I have the Art of Fighting one, and I'm absolutley convinced I bought the orochi saga, but I must've imagined it? Unless somebody has been walking out of here with my PS2 games.

....and so many people come and go from this bloody house it may have really been happening :???:

Ooh! Lucky you! This is getting quite hard to get hold of now, and quite pricey, as is the first one from what I hear?

Would've liked to have bought it, but the last time I saw it in a shop it was $39.99 used, that's probably the same price it retailed at originally (and I refuse to pay the original bloody retail price for a used game) :(

I have the first game and I'm holding onto it, still need to finish my game on ridiculously hard off so I can play through it with Drizt :D

Mel, you might like Sonic Gems Collection. It features Sonic CD and some lesser games, and some unlockable Mega Drive and Game Gear games.

If you really like Sonic, it might be worth getting Sonic Mega Collection Plus also. It too has unlockable games.

The Taito, Capcom and Midway ones you've got... good call :)

Shadow of the Colossus really IS a must. It's weird getting your head around the fact that the game world is empty (more or less) but it's an amazing game.

    Grand theft auto: san andreas.

Oh, and for me, Samurai warriors 2 + Samurai Warriors 2 xl. Don't get 'em if you don't like button-mashing though. You have been warned.

    Tekken tag Tournament.

    God of war 1+2

    Gran Turismos

Probably some more but they're my personal must-haves.

yeah i needed all those old retro packs.........specially at the prices :P
yeah im seriously thinking about colosous but it DOES divide people and im really not sure ill like it, specially as it seems to never be under about ?20 on amazon

again not that sure ill like the gta games on it tbh, ive tried the first one on ps1 and got bored tbh, same with bully, but i keep trying with it lol i really want to like it (bit like elite on the speccy, bbc etc)

tekken / gran turimos i can both like and dislike, not really my fave types of games, i have a couple for the ps1
driving wise i prefer the likes of burnout as its different

so nice to play the arcade version of defender.
Oh, did you manage to complete Gladiator (or even try to) on the taito legends pack?
I got to the final guy loads of times but he's spanked me every time.

The 'extras' on the compilation dvds are great too. It's humbling to hear how good some people were at defender.

The tekken version I mentioned is the championship one - has slightly different game modes to the normal version which I think make it a lot more playable. Especially multiplayer.

Probably not worth 20 quid for colossus but keep an eye out and grab it cheap if you can. Am sure there are plenty youtube walkthroughs out there so you can get to see the game.
