Well if its correctness that you want. You should of written, I work with quite a few dead people WITH WHOM I have to prepare for the mortuary. But it doesn't matter anyway.

If I was preparing myself for the mortuary along with the dead folks, I suppose I would have said that. However, as I have a superior command of the language as compared to your good self, I did not.

You must be new around here.

It's like Star Trek, though. A few crazy people who live on the internet seem to think it's all real.

Lots of family trees have some crossover I bet you'd find you're "more inbred than Shergar" if you did your family trees too.

Yes thats right you are correct. My family have been interbred for generations just to keep power and money in the family. :-)

I'm not that bothered by the Royals, but there is no denying the revenue they bring in...

Minor royals don't get hand-outs (unless by the Queen) - most of them work, including Andrew, Edward & Sophie

Andrew brings in countless millions in business each year
    Tourism brings in more millions
    The Queen pays income tax
Prince Charles & Duke of Edinburgh charities spend around ?100m pa

Not bad for a bunch of 'scroungers'

    "allowed".

You come across as very jealous. They can't do a thing right in your eyes, yet they do so much not just for the image of our country but also to bring in a huge amount of wealth. You seem to resent that.
And whats your level? Dunny you haven't a clue about me and I wouldn't want you or expect you to know. I all so dont like arrogance.

You have an extraneous "all" in there, but the rest of the grammar is so bad it's likely not salvageable.

I dunno, you seemed like a really nice guy when I talked to you last, and now ... well, you come off as quite bigoted. Can't you just be happy for people?

I fully agree, this thread should be closed. Its shouldnt be about replies to what someone has said. If your a Royalist or not so be it.

My last comment about this. I will repeat I have not got a jealous bone in my body. You believe what you like it doesn't matter. I have never liked or never will like the Royal family if thats wrong which it seams to be in this thread so be it.

To be honest, the main beef people have with the Royals is the huge amount of money they have.

Now, discounting the myth that the taxpayer pays for their lifestyles (they'd not have to allow the public into their properties in order to make ends meet if that was the case), then that wealth has to have come from somewhere.

You can only gain great wealth by one of two methods - either by working hard and crushing all opposition in dubious business deals, or by inheritance. Obviously the royals don't own multinational corporations (and haven't done any of the incredibly foul deeds that the rest of the world's "self-made rich" have done), then they must have much of their wealth handed down to them.

And yet people still shout loudly that this is unfair! I'm fairly certain that if this was disallowed there would be public outcry when Auntie Meg leaves someone her fortune of a couple of thousand and it gets "redistributed" to the rest of the state.

If you believe in meritocracy then it is unfair and always unfair because it means people are advantaged/disadvantaged from birth. Everyone, pretty-much, is mired in this system but it's not correct to say it's "fair".

Additionally, the Royal's wealth has always come from general taxation going back to the days when that (and paying for wars) was what general taxation was for.

That's how Europe's monarchys came about - powerful warlords conquered dominions, established strongholds to hold them and then arranged for a tax regime to keep them wealthy and to fund further expansion or defence. These days things are rather different (royal wealth is inherited or distributed, with Parliamentary authority, via the civil list) but this still isn't an inheritance which came from someone working hard and saving up - it came from other people working hard and the taxman knocking at the door.

I suppose my main 'beef' with the royal family is that it doesn't really represent the country all that well.

I've no idea what the hell to replace it with, and to be honest have better things to do with my time than worry about things like that! It's not like I'm going to change our nation by typing drivel into the world of spectrum forum.

The way I see it is there are people in our society who need something like that to inspire them. If that works for them then that's fine. I'd rather they worshipped a harmless enough institution like the royal family than (for example) a politician, footballer or some other 'personality'. (Many of our scariest historical figures were held in the same kind of esteem during their lifetimes - people cried in the street when Stalin died for example...)

Will and Kate seem like a pleasant enough couple who are coping well with an unbelievable amount of media pressure. Good luck to them - and while I didn't watch it myself it's nice to see that there is something positive that unites a lot of people on the TV.
