Dad's Dead

edited August 2011 in Chit chat
My dad passed away today.

There's nothing really to do now, for the rest of the day so I thought I'd visit somewhere where my [virtual] mates are.

If you're having a beer tonight, make sure you ask for it flat and send it back if it's got too much head for a top up - just like my dad would have.!!!!

Cheers all.

Andrew

Ish. looking back over the last few weeks it was expected, but really didn;t accept it..

I'm off now, thought I'd hang around for the first repsonse and disappear.

I'm so sorry to hear that. At times like this, it's best not to be on your own, but to be with other people, even if you feel that you'd prefer to be alone.

Your friends and laughter (your dad would want you to be happy, and to laugh) will help you through this time, and I've found that my favourite comedies have helped me immensely when I was really low. Bottom, Blackadder, The Office, Alan Partridge, Futurama, and others I can re-watch endlessly.

All the best mate, and if you need to let off steam, we're always here. Especially Mile and Karingal, as nowhere else will have them...

    Sincerest condolences.

Good on him! Having a pint exactly as you like it is a right not a privilege. It's written in the constitution somewhere

sorry to hear that, im gonna be int he same boat not long away really.
my dads got cancer, its in his bones and all the treatment is doing is managing it rather than getting rid, one of the last texts i got off him he said it had spread to another 3 or 4 places, from his feet, legs, up to his ribs / shoulders etc

so tbh im thinking its gonna be sooner rather than later

I can only really echo what others have said - sorry to hear of your loss. My thoughts are with you.

Remember, this place never goes long without someone dropping by and posting, even in the middle of the night UK time, since we have our international friends and our resident insomniacs. So please, drop by if you're in need of some light relief or virtual shoulders.

By the way, just poured out a bottle of Newcastle Brown into my favourite metal tankard. Chilled from the fridge, with just a little foam on top. No complaints from me. Don't know if he ever drank it, but this one is for your old man :)

It is what it is. Final. Wrenching. Saddening, and numbing. Even when expected. I hope you get sorted all that you need to get sorted, smoothly, and with support.
