Stuck - problems writing dsk images back to 3" disks.

edited August 2011 in Hardware
Im having some trouble writing DSK images back to 3" disks using a speccy +3.

I am using:

CPCDiskXP to write DSK images to 3.5 disks,
DU54 on the spectrum +3 to copy the 3.5 disk to a 3" disk.

It fails telling me of no data on track 1?

Anyone have an idea what im doing wrong? I succeded in getting a dsk image of DU54 onto a 3" disk no problem. Is this something to do with copy protection?

EDIT: Might have sussed it. I can write dsk images using SAMdisk with the --fix command. Bit gutted I cant get things onto real 3" disks unless I hook up a 3" drive to pc... is there any other way?

I've used the 'Disk Dump' files from this website http://www.crumblenet.co.uk/~tim/spectrum/ to image my real +3 disks to audio tape files so I could recreate them as virtual discs on an emulator. You can use the same software the other way around as well.

Thanx for that m8 :) I shall give it a go.

I have resorted to turning single snapshot files into dsk images just so I could get certain games working. Still waiting for my divide to turn up which will probably make all these problems moot, but I really like using those old amsoft disks as I never had them back in the day.

yeah, probably copy protection. connect the 3" to PC, its the best way.
just do not forget swapped voltage pins for +5 and +12!!!

wish we could use them extended .dsk images on 3,5" connected as B:
    sigh
