Christmas is coming

edited September 2011 in Chit chat
It started mid morning when I heard my first report of a TV advert with Christmas decorations up. Then this afternoon in Sainsbury's, I find that they already have their Christmas Confectionary out. It's obviously not the full range, but there it was. Advent calanders, selection boxes, After 8's, Matchmakers the lot!

Kids have only been back at school 2 days :( Can't we at least get September over first

Christmas is a good excuse for a piss up, a piss up that lasts approximately a month.

But other than that it's crap.
    Every night is curry night!

for me it's always a chance to catch up with old mates, and with luck get a drunken snow ball fight in after a night at a pub in front of a log fire

staff christmas party, where slapping a female staff member on the arse is all in good fun and isn't grounds for dismissal. ;)

Don't buy boxes of "Celebrations", and tell your families not to buy them for you, for they have got rid of the Galaxy Truffles. And replaced them with mini Twixes. >:(

Sainsbugg*ry's had mince pies in the Christmas-themed boxes out last week. I also saw a TV ad last night for a Christmas savings scheme run by The Sun.

What was utterly weird last Christmas was that the local garden centre had all its Christmas stuff on sale (still masively overpriced, naturally) right through until they put in the Spring planting stuff in March. Walking around the dark grotto tunnels of twinkly lights, reindeer and red and gold ribbons on trees a month or two after christmas is just downright disturbing.

Dont mind all the early Xmas stuff at all, hopefully people will spend lots of money, businesses will do well and its all good news.

Cant wait for Xmas, as i get older i'm just interested in having days off work ! Our little girl will be 14 months so it'll be great this year giving her presents etc. Roll on the usual Xmas videos on the music channels, eating tons at Xmas, watching Chitty Chitty Bang Bang on TV and moaning about the Xmas crap on BBC1 !

Only thing i'm not looking forward to is any snow, total pain last year !

It's great when they're that little bit older and can communicate.

Bring on the snow! Sledging with the kids last year was awesome!

    As if by magic...

I'm starting up a "Christmas UK" Facebook and Twitter feed, which I'm using to dump the Xmas stuff I've found from previous years and also will be tracking the current year's Xmas hype cycle. Unlike the previous Blogspot attempt, this will not be wordy and really will just be a link dump which people can passively dip in and out of.

It also means less work for me ;)

Like the FB fan page: http://facebook.com/ChristmasUK

    Or follow: http://twitter.com/#!/Christmas_UK

Edit: Currently loving the Xmas food on sale, and the local florists have a lit Xmas tree in their shop window!
