Hi, I'm David Cameron. You might remember me from such political videos as "How to not win an election, but still run the country" and "NHS Reform U-Turns: Not a sign of weak leadership, honest guv'nor"
This country is fecked and I've absolutely no idea how to fix it, so instead I'm going to talk about an even worse place in the hope you'll think I'm a caring sort of guy and not, in fact, a clueless muppet who is hopelessly out of his depth.
This has been a party political broadcast on behalf on the Epic Fail party
The sad thing is the competition is not much better. It seems anyone with any real ideas or integrity, can't make it in politics because they are 1)seen as a clear threat to the others and 2) are to nice to back stab others.
Consiquently, anyone nice and very able gets weeded out and only very occasionally does someone get to the top who is both able, and altruistic in their motives and policies. Even then because of this they have a tenancy to have strips tore off by others who's private financial interests could be at risk by policy changes.
power corrupts and all that.....plus to paraphrase Dune by the time you get in a position to do anything good you've sold yourself in a million shares to get there....
My opinion for what it's worth is to have a complete rethink of the way wealth is held and distributed. Centre left or Centre right isn't working anymore. It needs to be rewritten from scratch.
I believe it's got to be ultra high taxation with high wages like Norway, or virtually no taxation at all, like in the far east.
It's only in the failing countries like the UK and USA that seem to get away with top people earning 100 times what the people at the bottom earn.
Set a minimum wage of ?30,000 and a maximum wage of ?100,000 for everyone.
Set a minimum wage of ?30,000 and a maximum wage of ?100,000 for everyone.
And sit back as the people actually worth more than ?100k bugger off abroad to work, and the people that aren't worth ?30k start suing for unfair dismissal because they are crap - and the payouts are based on salary.
This is why we still have to pay bankers a bonus - there are a smeg load more good bankers than bad ones - as a country we can't afford to lose them.

No party that got in could easily fix the mess we are in. They are right in saying that borrowing doesn't get you out of debt, and hard as the tax rises/public sector cuts are, how else can *any* government get money to pay debts?
Love or hate the coalition - neither of them created the problem.
I just found it odd that it was suposedly a political broadcast, but looks like 1 of them appeals they had on BBC1 on a sunday hosted by someone well known.
halifax (part of Bank of Scotland) are currently running adverts.. you could be 1 of 3 people a month to win ?100,000 ? great.. perhaps they should be quicker paying back the tax payers , if they had got bailed out.

I don't expect them to easily fix it, but I'm equally not going to be convinced by a cynical and disingenuous attempt to paint themselves in a better light by acting out a charity donation video.
The global debt issue has been created by decades of people pretending debt doesn't actually matter, even at the global scale. Sooner or later this was an inevitable consequence.

Exactly. People are moaning about the tories, look at the utter mess Labour got the country in before that (And such a shame after such a promising 'things are going to change' start)
As Lee said, the coalition didnt create this huge mess. I still cant believe Labour got in last time considering the country was in a state, ridiculous to reward failure
