I agree, The Assassins is by far the best mission for its simplicity, and I've recreated an identical version in Stellar Forces. :)

Chaos? I did write a multi-player realtime remake about 7 years ago, but nothing Chaos-related since then I'm afraid.

Ah sorry, my mistake, it was another WOSser doing the Chaos one. Would like to have a go at Stellar Forces at some point..!

Best game for me was Ikari Warriors, loved that game 2 player

Yeah that was good, I remember there was always a dash to try to get into the tank first before your mate did..! Then out of spite he'd try to grenade it so you lost it again..

Isn't Motos' 2-player just an alternating 'hot-seat' option? Having said that, Motos is brilliant. A really good conversion.

I thought you play as rivals and can push each other off the 'board'. Damn..that's how I remembered it...maybe I'm wrong?

Damn you're right I just tried it...funny how your mind plays tricks on you I would have swore I remembered playing this at work with a guy on 2 player shoving each other off the board...guess I'm ready for my slippers and cocoa.

My mate and I used to play BMX Simulator, and at the time we thought it was ace. I seem to remember that it had replays of the race.

Having just played it (on a realy speccy obviously as the game is still denied) I can honestly say that its a shoite game.
    Sausages is more important

It would have been great as either 2-player rivals or co-op!

Trivial Pursuit was great on the Speccy (and the C64, but not on the Atari ST as the sports questions were all American which were unknowable to a Brit like me). The standard questions were really good, but the Young Players Edition was good for a laugh too, but the Baby Boomers questions were much too hard for anyone not born during World War II

Don't mention Trivial Pursuit 2 thought, it was a huge disappointment.

180 was a great multiplayer game. So was Bubble Bobble, Chuckie Egg, and Advanced Soccer Simulator (the only football management game I gave any time to, as my mates played it and you could have multiple managers (each with their own team) and so it was very good when you had mates around.
  • What about Bruce Lee or Pang?

I used to play Test Match against my dad. Pretty much the only game he did play.

Some of the multiplayer football managment games eg Soccer 7 were ok too.

which was the best game to play in 2 player mode
Used to have pretty good fun playing my brother at Xeno. (It wasn't a bad 1-player game, either.)

Xeno is my favourite 2 player game on the Speccy too. Used to play Pitstop 2 and Bounces quite a bit around my breadbin owning mates house.

3d Stockcar Champ was great in 2 player mode

A fantastic Supersprint style budget release - it had the interesting mechanic of tapping the accelerate key to go faster which worked really well. Good minimalist clean design and pure gameplay heaven :)

I would certainly agree, certainly when a thread's pretty old. I find it annoying with bumped threads when you don't realise it's been bumped and are reading it from scratch. Many's the time I've gone to reply to someone and realised at the last second I'm replying to a 6 year old comment!

Back on topic: Bubble Bobble for me.

I would agree and also add that the users fluctuate over time and the people on from 4 years ago is v different, hence different and changing viewpoints.

Besides, we're discussing a 20+ year system. most EVERYTHING has been discussed if you look hard enough.

another vote for emlyn Hughes and gauntlet.

Can you give more info about it?? :)

Actually, Tetris 2 was pretty good 2 player blast, too, even if technically it doesn't change the gameplay at all.

I would also add Captain Fizz - often overlooked. The other usual suspects (Laser Squad, Target: Renegade, Ikari Warriors, Rodland, Pang) were already named...

QUADRAX is absolutly best logical game (for two players) with nice graphic and perfect idea.

    think Winston should answer that

    but....

2 speccies, 2 tanks, weapons, fuel, flags and a maze

simple but could be deceptivley addictive I think, basically a player on each speccy go around the map pick up weapons and fuel, get that flag (one red , one blue) and blow the crap out of each other

oh and don't drive into the walls
