Yeah, I know, but I always loved playing this with my cousin. I liked the odd shapped street pitch, the random fights and sometimes the ball would burst so you all had to go home! Brought a kind of realism that you don't see with todays Fifa games!
I know what you mean, but at the same time the last post on that thread is from 2008 and on page 30+... sometimes it's better/more fun to start the same thread afresh..I think most people would agree? (fair enough if it's a 2 or 3 week old thread then it's worth bumping instead of starting again)
edit, sorry it was on reply 30+ not page 30+, I got confused there
8 players clustered round a speccy keyboard hovering over their single key, waiting for long periods of time to snag a bite... Then missing it because one of your mates punched you in the arm. Quality..! :-P
No-ones mentioned Laser Squad?? By far the best 2-player game!
The only thing weird about Laser Squad as a 2 player game.. is the fact that the other player really has to "look away" during the opponents movement phase etc, or it kind of defeats the point of having hidden player positions. Then coming back to watch when a gunfight starts, makes it all rather complicated. This is why I actually preferred the other "Rebelstar" games for 2 players.
Laser squad is still my favorite of the set though. Great game.
Thanks for linking to that game by the way. Will check that out !! :)

Let me know how you get on and if you want a game. What was your favourite mission in LS? We used to turn the TV to face the walls and swap seats between turns. However, cheating could sometimes be a problem!

The assassins was always my favourite 2 player mission, just because if you played as the Sterner dude you never knew what tactics the 2nd player would take - scatter his squad & surround the mansion, smash in all together through your back door (fnar - Ed) or just try to rocket launch your house to the ground..! It was only a small play area and a short game, so I found we could easily play through it without getting bored. I used to love using the grenades - the other player would see them land near them and never know how long you'd set the timer for (or if you'd set it at all)!

I would certainly agree, certainly when a thread's pretty old. I find it annoying with bumped threads when you don't realise it's been bumped and are reading it from scratch. Many's the time I've gone to reply to someone and realised at the last second I'm replying to a 6 year old comment!
Best game for me was Ikari Warriors, loved that game 2 player

Match Day II - great laugh
Batty - Again a good laugh playing that one
Bubble Bobble - Still a near perfect game, battling over the huge bonus candy cane was always good

Chaos. It's even better with eight players, but two will do at a pinch.
I was about to say that :-P
Match Day II was a favorite of mine as was Street Cred Soccer (yes, I know  )
I'd say the same was true for Spy vs Spy and Silkworm.
fixed :)
when I had speccy , no 2 player games were really about.. could give you a massive list of c64 titles though.. esp kikstart 2 , pitstop 2 , ik+ etc
except full trottle was SEVEN players over network.. did anyone ever play that?
my fav multiplayer will always be bomberman.. I have the saturn one now also :)

(Shameless plug: If you liked Laser Squad, check out Stellar Forces (free!) ).
Exploding Fist was great in 2 player mode too.
Gauntlet was only good with two players Ikari Warriors weren't bad either.
A close second in the 8 player game list has to be:
Jack Charlton's Match Fishing!

How's the Chaos remake coming along BTW? ;)
Viking Raiders
Match Day (1)

Back on topic: Bubble Bobble for me.
I agree, The Assassins is by far the best mission for its simplicity, and I've recreated an identical version in Stellar Forces. :)
Chaos? I did write a multi-player realtime remake about 7 years ago, but nothing Chaos-related since then I'm afraid.
