Quicktime for Win7.

edited November 2011 in Chit chat
I am working on a Win7 computer which needs Quicktime installed.

This computer is NOT connected to the Internet, and will not be in the near future.

So I am online on a WinXP computer and went to the Apple/Quicktime site. The page says that it's for "QuickTime 7.7.1 for Windows XP, Windows Vista or Windows 7"

When I click DOWNLOAD NOW, it says that it's getting the WinXP version (which makes sense seeing as I'm on an XP computer, annoying though that it's "detecting" it automatically  )

I didn't think about it (yesterday) when I was getting the file* but this probably explains why the QuicktimeInstaller.exe file doesn't work on the Win7 computer. I click the file and nothing happens but soon enough a pop-up asks me if I want to run the file in "compatibility" mode ... so I tried everything XP-up, to no avail, I click the file and "nothing" happens, it just pops again with the compatibility window.

SO, where the @#$% do I get the Win7 specific Quicktime install file??????????
while using a WinXP computer.

* I probably thought that the description of the file meant that it was one file which worked on all of the listed platforms ... apparently not so :-(

actually if you dont want things like adobe or googles download managers, filehippo is the best place to download their products because these programs dont use them.

Thanks guys ... err ... but ... err ... that filehippo file is the same file (or rather exactly same version number as what I got from the Apple site).

I'll get it nonetheless, just to see if it is different in any way/shape/form.

    This Just In:

The filehippo file actually worked the first time around, hassle-free.

Which is funny as it's the same version number + file size, etc as the one I got from the official fruitcompany.

    Thanks! icon14.gif
