which "jon" do you think it was who did the loading screen... I'd never had got it...

*long pause* *drum roll*

Jon Ritman :-o

(programmer of matchday etc :) )

Simon confirmed it today with a nice reply to an email I sent. Sadly he didn't want 15 scrabbles (I didn't ask :) )

I have to question the 'inspiration' from the film of the same name, since the game literally has nothing to do with the film in story or design.

(Further) credits taken from the instructions, so now we not only have names but also AKAs for them:

"...programmed by Simon (Psi) Brattell, Neil (Mott) Mottershead and
    Gwaham, all from Design Design
    ..."

Okay, so that takes care of the 'JON' for Dark Star and Forbidden Planet.
However, we also have a 'JON' listed for Design Design's On the Run. Could that be Jon Ritman as well?

The names have been added, but I'm uncertain of the validity of the aliases (as the instructions seem to be 'made up' for the Spectrum Game Database).

a direct quote from the email Simon sent , sure he won't mind..

"The DarkStar screen was drawn by the games programmer Jon Ritman, who
was a friend of mine. He saw DarkStar and designed the screen without
being asked because he thought the game deserved a load-up screen and he
knew I'd never bother doing one ;)

I'm not sure about On The Run, I'm afraid, han't help with that one. "

    maybe jon ritman remembers
